Alan Hansen On Man Utd v Aston Villa

Alan Hansen On Man Utd v Aston Villa

Alan Hansen, pundit for the New Football Pools says Manchester United face a tough game this weekend with Aston Villa the visitors to Old Trafford.

'Sir Alex`s side face a tough game of their own this weekend with Aston Villa coming to Old Trafford. Villa may be in free-fall after a poor run but Martin O`Neill will be hoping that the international break will have freshened up his young side for a final push for a Champions League place.'

'On top of their recent slump in form, Villa also have an appalling 26-game league record without a win against Manchester United to contend with. They haven`t managed to beat United since August 1995 when a certain someone mentioned something about the fact you can`t win anything with kids which I have never been allowed to forget.'

Adding, 'If Villa can frustrate United then who knows what could happen in that one. One thing`s for certain, Sir Alex is sure to put out his best eleven available for this one to get his team back on track. Recent criticism of his rotation policy has surprised me to be honest as he has done exceptionally well this season in terms of getting results despite numerous injuries and remain top of the division so he hasn`t done too badly has he?'

Hansen mentions injuries, and Man Utd have a fair few, along with those all-important suspensions. This might not be a must-win for Villa, but it certainly is a can-win. Heskey being out also has to help us, because I wouldn't trust MoN to drop him! Any news on whether Laursen and/or Bouma are in contention for a start?

Laursen is out more long term I think Albarnista. Isn't he flying stateside to check in with this Dr Richard Steadman again, for an updated evaluation. I'll be surprised if we see him in action again this season. Freddie Bouma too. Why rush him back? In Nicky Shorey we have a more than competent left full back. Lets utilise him.

You took the words right out of my mouth Lee Lindsay. Well said sir! The world would be a better place if Messrs Hansen and Lawrenson would only learn to zip it more often.
