Petrov Set to Sign On?

Stiliyan Petrov has hinted that he is set to sign a new contract according to Setanta.

The Bulgarian midfielder has enjoyed a great season of late, having had a couple of years lacking any real input into the Villa team. The club began talks late last month, and the 29-year old ex-celtic player seems happy that he`ll stay on. Speaking to the Brum Mail he said:

"They [agent and club] met the other week and things are in progress, so we`ll see what happens."

"I`ve always been optimistic. Don`t forget I`ve still got another year to go and a lot of things can happen. I`ll be happy to sign it, but you never know, that`s football.

"It`s up to the club to decide how they want to move forward. Is it going to be with me or without me? I`m just here to do my job.

"I`ll speak with Villa and hope we can come to an agreement."

Great news, Stan has been in fine form and could be a fine example to follow, if you are reading this Gareth?

In MON we trust!
Petrov needs to stay put, If we can get Maxi in or someone like Moutinho, it would deffinately soften the blow of Barry leaving!
Hitman
Petrov played magnificently tonight for Bulgaria, 2:0 vs. Cyprus. In the absence of Berbatov, he was the captain of the Lions(as they call Bulgarian football team, btw :) )
Poncho
player of the season for me, closely followed by luke young.
Stig
Agree Stig. He has been a model of consistency, a very important and integral part of the team. We need to get him signed up. He's a very important player for us nowadays.

Indeed Poncho. He received rave reports for his international showing. Clearly he carried his club form onto the international stage.
