Villa Reserves At Villa Park v Stoke Tonight

Villa Reserves At Villa Park v Stoke Tonight

Villa reserves play Stoke City at Villa Park TONIGHt. Kick off 7pm. It is usually free to get in.

Wilfred Bouma is set to make another appearance having recovered from his injury and the official site says Nicky Shorey could also feature. Thought they were both left-backs, maybe Shorey has another string to his bow, I'm not sure?

There is live commentary on AVTV as well.

Team:

Elliott Parish, Eric Lichaj, Wilfred Bouma, Jonathan Hogg, Ciaran Clark, Nathan Baker, Marc Albrighton, Andreas Weimann, James Collins, Nicky Shorey, Dominik Hofbauer. Substitutes: William Grocott, Thomas Dau, Harry Forrester, Richard Blythe, Tobias Mikaelsson.

think he has played in the centre as well meyouldy, but if we are trying to get him back match fit for the full squad, I'd think they would be looking at playing him on the left? Not sure about Shorey whether he used to play in different positions at Reading?

The are probably both playing 45mins each at right-back, then shifting to centre-back then playing right wing before both playing as sweeper.

Nicky Shorey is totally wasted playing in a reserve team game. The guy should be playing at left full back for the first team, his continual omissions do not make the slightest bit of sense. It has to be down to a personality clash between manager and player, there's no other explanation.

If MON has decided that Shorey isn't the answer, and it sure looks that way, then lets make every effort to bring in Stephen Warnock from Blackburn Rovers in the summer.
