Unoial Villa News...

Darn it, I was just coming to the end of what was probably the best Villa Times in the world ever and I got a power cut. I'll never get that fantastic Villa Times back, but here is the Best Villa Times in the World... tribute..

The Daily Mirror claim Valencia have touted defender Miguel, linked to Villa before, to both us and Everton due to their financial problems. The 29-year-old right-back is apparently rated at around £4million.

Villa have announced today that they'll join Real Madrid and Juventus in a pre-season tournament called the Peace Cup. I had a peace in a cup once ... and you wonder why I'm still single! Peace Out Villa Brothers

Good news. Scrub that, GREAT news. Martin Laursen is on the comeback trail. Full article: Defensive Rock On Comeback Trail

From Vital Sheffield Wednesday: Wednesday boss Brian Laws is trying to get Aston Villa striker Marlon Harewood at Hillsborough on loan according to reports in today's papers. Full article: Owls In Bid For Villa's Harewood

Nottingham Forest are also - once again - being linked to Marlon Harewood.

Talking about Harewood, he takes part in the reserves game v West Ham tonight. The game is being played at Bishops Stortford FC at 7pm. Villa currently sit top of the Premier Reserve League. Team: Parish, Roome, Lichaj, Clark, Lowry; Hogg, Albrighton, Salifou, Weimann; Harewood, Delfouneso. Subs: Baker, G Gardner, Hofbauer, Collins.

Barry Bannan has been called up into the Scotland under-21 squad for their UEFA European U21 Championship qualifiers against Albania (home April 1 at the Falkirk Stadium and away March 28 in Albania).

Martin O'Neill has been linked to the England job if Fabio Capello should decide to quit! Full article: Martin O'Neill For England!

The Villa have announced that ticket sales systems are being changed and this will mean that fans will be able to buy tickets online. Those with a booking history will be able to register and start from this Wednesday including the next home game v Everton.

Vital Villan: Nigel Reo-Coker has insisted that the 'fighting spirit' in the team will see us bounce back from our 3 disappointing league results. Full quotes: We'll Bounce Back.....Again

Controversy reigned after Young Jonah's post to the General over the Martin O'Neill issue: Does Randy Lerner Feel The Same Way?

Martin O'Neill tried to remain positive after the loss v Spurs and says we can still finish 4th this season. After today and with trips to Liverpool and Manchester United, not to mention a tough home tie v Everton, I have to hold my hands up and say I doubt it but then, it isn't over until the fat lady sings. Who knows what can happen in this mad old game? Full quotes: Villa Boss Says We Can Still Finish 4th

Martin O'Neill was far from impressed with the Villa crowd who cheered when Gabby was brought off today. I'm not 100% sure what the cheering was for. Was it against the player? He has been shocking recently to be fair and maybe if the manager had a thought he'd have looked to rest him and try to (shock horror) actually change things about a little? No? Silly me! What I find confusing is he's told the press the fans booed the player but I really don't think they did, there were cheers and not aimed at Gabby at all. Basically he's blown it out of all proportion and tried to deflect the recent results onto fans who pay their hard earnt money to support the team? Full quotes: MON Not Happy With Fans Cheering Gabby Off

Support the team, don't boo: Support The Team, DON'T BOO! :o)

The Sun blah blah blah, Gareth Barry blah blah blah, end of season move blah blah blah, Man City blah blah blah. Full blah blah blah: The Gareth Barry Transfer Saga Part 3009

That was the week that was, by Sheriff Kimbo: The Week In Villa #29 (6/3/09 - 12/3/09)

Barry Bannan has moved to Derby County on a month's loan. Nigel Clough moved for the reserve regular and CSKA hero and it's believed he will be going straight into the squad for their next match against Sheffield United. Bannan Gets The Clough Treatment

Thought for the day: 'My parents are from Glasgow which means they're incredibly hard, but I was never smacked as a child ... well, maybe one or two grams to get me to sleep at night.'

can any one see the potential in Heskey at Villa? Everytime Carew comes off the bench we score... Heskey doesnt score when he starts.... we should resort to 4-5-1 with Sidwell and Gabi loan striker or play 4-4-2 with Carew and Gabi, simple as that...

No, Heskey has been a huge disappointment leelindsay, I dont think that anyone could argue with you there. Carew is definitely the far better option to lead the line. To give Emile the benefit of the doubt, maybe he arrived from Wigan Athletic still carrying these injuries that have effected him throughout the campaign?

Reassuring to read that Nigel Reo-Coker has insisted that the 'fighting spirit' in the team will see us bounce back from our 3 disappointing league results. Talk is the easy part though, its action that counts. Matters would be helped somewhat if Mart desisted with this playing of players out of their specialist and prepared positions. And please MON, bring back Micky Shorey! What is your problem with this guy?
