Peace Out Villa Brothers

Villa have announced today that they'll join Real Madrid and Juventus in a pre-season tournament called the Peace Cup. I had a peace in a cup once ... and you wonder why I'm still single!

Also involved are Porto, Lyon, Seville and Liga de Quito with another five yet to be announced.

The event will be played in Andalucía, Spain between July 24 and August 2.

Martin O'Neill told the official site: 'We are delighted to be involved in such a prestigious tournament. There are some really big European clubs involved and it will be a good part of our pre-season preparations.'

Sounds good, we need some European football! ;o)))

Hopefully by then we'll have a quality squad to compete

Better than the usual run of the mill pre-season friendlies, certainly wont do us any harm. I'd feared that we might head back across the ocean to play a couple of MLS outfits, but realistically we need to be testing ourselves against better quality than what our Yank friends have to offer. Yes, I'm all for a piece of this Peace Cup.
