'If It's Football, It's Vital'

O'Neill's Milly Delight

Martin O'Neill has said that James Milner has lived up to every expectation since joining from Newcastle.

The lastest praise from the boss comes in the week that Terry of Venables hailed Milly as his 'Young Player of the Year'.

Speaking on the official site, O'Neill echoed the thoughts of the former England manager:

'I have been absolutely delighted with the impact of James since he's been here.

'He's everything I thought he would be and more.

'He can improve too and he will get better. He puts a lot of work into his game and he is willing to work so hard to improve.

'James is a great lad in the dressing room too and he has a fantastic attitude. He wants to do well for the team and I have been delighted with him.

'I don't need statistics to see how much work he does and how much ground he covers on the pitch - I can see it with my own eyes.

'He has done very, very well indeed.'

There are no doubts that Milly can improve. It's a shame in some ways that he's lost the flair he showed when he first broke into the Leeds team, but whatever showmanship he has lost has been replaced by very strong work ethic.

If he keeps improving and his confidence stays high, we have a very good player on our hands for years to come.

Would still had preferred SWP and I believe he was cheaper!
In MON we trust!
His wage demands weren't though

Milners improving by the game. Needs to run at players and go past them rather than just a step-over and mediocre cross. Most geordie fans rekon he's a centre mid, not a winger. SWP would have suited our play a bit more but ive got faith in jim to produce the goods. He works hard and is determind to improve and impress

love the player, think he is great, but refuse to call him Milly! Do agree would be good to see him run into the box sometimes instead of looking for that one more pass because once in there anything can happen, penalty, shot, deflection... etc !

He may not have the pace of Ahley (who does?) but his effort is second to none, and he is the natural replacement for Barry should he decide to leave, get a right winger in with the money and let Milner partner Petrov.
