Michael Owen Or Kaka To Villa!!!!!

I mentioned this yesterday in one or two of my Emile Heskey articles but hadn't got the full facts and wanted to wait to see what quotes the press actually got off Martin O'Neill!

Seems that the quick email I got was right though, the Villa boss is now interested in moving for Newcastle striker Michael Owen in the summer. I would imagine they've enquired this transfer window and had it confirmed that Owen doesn't want to leave until he can do so on a free. If only we could grab him now, I've said for months in our forum (along with many others - I'm not claiming this is particularly clever of me obviously!!) that his goals - IF FIT - could win us the blinking league. Forum thread (from page one - goes to page 8 at the moment) (WARNING - Adult language) Michael Owen to villa

The quotes the press got in their Friday conference with MON yesterday were as follows, these ones were from a report by the lovely Janine Self of The Sun

O’Neill said: 'I’m not saying that I will move for Owen in the summer — I’ve not looked at anything at that remote a distance. But that’s not to say Michael Owen is not a terrific player. We wait to see. Anything is possible. Kaka is a possibility! We want to try to compete at this level but what’s happening in the future? I have no idea.'

Ok, not exactly saying 'we are going to try to sign Owen' but at least it admits we might be in for players of that quality. It is possible for Villa to take the next step now and to do that it will take big money. Some are disappointed at the arrival of Heskey but I see it as a decent enough buy at the money spent, not a wow player but certainly an interesting one and he is an England international, a level above signings like Marlon Harewood (no offence meant as his attitude when he comes on as sub has been good!) so I'm happy to see what the big man can do. Hopefully he'll get his scoring ratio up to beyond what he has achieved before.

I would prefer Kaka, still not convinced on Owen. think he is an expensive risk. Much like I fear Laursen will be now...amazing when playing but may only play a 1/3 of the season.

Interesting that MON say's he isn't looking that far into the future!

I dont want Owen. I am still sufficiently idealist or stupid to want nice people at Villa, rather than money grabbing arrogant so and sos. OK , so everyone is in it for the money, but the likes of Laursson, Angel, Ashley Young, Friedl, Brian Little etc are nice guys too. Is there a Juan Puablo Angel out there with a hard cutting edge to his game, 100% commitment and a consistent scoring record - for about £6 million (who supports or at least would love to play for the Villa, can we please sign him. Surely that's not asking too much ...... don't answer that.

Sod that I have won 10 squid on the penalty shoot out above and I want my money! Oh yeh, Owen would have been a fantastic signing without Heskey, with he him he becomes a (cant think of a better word than fantastic) signing. Owen Heskey Agbonlahor Carew is just like our back 4 setup (banking on Cuellar to stop playing like a tart) - as good as it gets in this league - we would have to be in the Champs league for it to happen.

I often wonder how Juan Pablo would have fared in this current Villa side actually.....probably a lot better than last time around, as our service is probably 100 times better.....we're crying out for a finisher of his calibre....or i'd take Mickey Owen in a heartbeat.

it is all very well going for show ponys like Kaka, but woould he get a game instead of Reo-Coker? (only joking honestly...) On a serious note If you get a CL place this season which looks a real possibility at this time, a player like Owen has to be in your reach. I also have to say that the signing of Heskey is a great piece of business by MON and he could be the man to get that CL place..

As much as i would love to see a FIT Owen at Villa we all know it probably isn't going to happen, so therefore i would rather see someone like Bent come into the squad, i love how our team is so English.
Villa 4 Ever
Owen to Villa....hmmm...who knows? Perhaps we sign him cut price....ship him off to Randy's doctor who fixed Laursen's knee...allow him some rehab...and see how it goes? Ok...we cant wait for that.....but a fit Owen can be really huge for us....would love it

I was just half-heartedly wishing for this earlier this week with another Villan. I would love to see Kaka in the Claret and Blue. He's got pace, a killer finish and is still young. Since that wish actually may be pursued, let me add another, Samual Eto'o. There would be, along with Gabby and Ashley an attack to put fear into any side in any league anywhere. Oh dear. I'm not going to be able to sleep now...

Funny how someone sai dthe word "still not convince by owen" like he is a youbg lad who hasn`t proved himself yet,Brilliant lol.

Said it before, I'll say it again (because I'm boring old git and no one really listens anyway, so I'm doing no harm! LOL) if we got Owen in now, he'd (if fit) win us the league or at least get us 2nd. Owen on the pitch scores goals. Owen with our service would score many goals. Trouble is I don't think we can get him, Newcastle can't let him go as they are in relegation trouble. He'd be mad not to move if we had an offer accepted though, we are the England teams future and if he wants back in....HELLOOOOO !
