Always thought Kevin Phillips was sold too soon. Wonder who our best signing is? Probably due to the risk taken money spent wise, Ashley Young? Think Sidwell and Milner will become very important for us as well and Luke Young has slotted in great. Be interesting to see if Brad Guzan will follow in the other great USA keepers footsteps and become a No1 for us.

Looking at this list, there really isn't any deal that was or is horrible business. Yes, a few of the guys didn't work out, but most of those were cheap gambles.

see how excited we get when we sign someone, seeing as though it is once in a blue transfer window moon, it makes you summarise all transfers, must you do this everytime we sign someone lol

Hot on the heels of Ridgewell being the best deal, must be Moore to the Baggies. My lord he is dire.

Well said son_of_cher. ManU spent that much on Nani and Anderson!!!! We built a team for that.

Be interesting to see how that compares to the rest of the top 6 ? 60m is a lot of money and that is the deficit not the net spend. MON is a fantastic manager but i do have concerns over his transfer activity, already we would look at his buys and not many we could recover the money back if we sold them.

How dare you question anything MON does Aspinall. You know this forum is only for making positive comments about MON! How dare you question what is done at the Club or have an opinion.

Hoss, everyone is entitled to their opinion but why ? do people have a go and a moan when things are going well. It just appears that some fans want to moan because it is the way we used to be. Why ? can't we just enjoy the ride at these exciting times and then everyone can moan if things go wrong.

Think it is healthy and natural for fans to question signings, talk about preferred players, formations etc etc. The internet is just a big pub table really. The discussion that goes on with these fans sites are no different to what we all chat to mates about! I've wondered about some of the signings etc and obviously same as anyone else have some I like and some I don't. One thing you can't get beyond though is there is only one man's opinion that counts and only one man's job that is on the line. Mr O ! I can't get passed looking at our table placing and thinking, despite some doubts, he might just know what he is up to here!!!! I agree with notthedougellisstand about enjoying the ride. Not been this happy for years, just love the fact the politics of the club are over and we are all back to doing what we do best, supporting the team and talking players/football/managers etc. Happy days.!

It seems to me that there is no middle ground any more. You either love or hate MON. He is our Marmite!!! I just think some fans will never understand him because he is so different to any other manager out there. Who do you compare him to? Cloughie is long gone, and I don't think he's that good, but he is doing something right.

I love him, he`s the best manager we could get bar none, but any fan of any club debates signings/team selections etc even Man.Utd fans - it`s why we love football, i have my opinions on some of his signings or how much we paid and don`t really see that as " moaning " but a healthy debate, i have pals who are Celtic/Villa and would sleep with MON if they could but have always gone on about his crazy transfers.

Irony is a funny thing that I thought only Americans didn't understand. Unfortunately it seems it is not just Americans who don't understand it's meaning unless these things are lost in translation through written words. It's also unfortunate that some translate debate into moaning, which is an easy assumption to make when you don’t like what others say. We are all Villa fans enjoying the current position we find ourselves in, yet if we stop debating how we can improve or go forward we might as well go into a field and be sheep.

Try reading the thread and you might understand. Aspinall makes a point and is immediately attacked for his view. However the person who attacks him doesn't address his point just say's his a moaner... work it out from there.

MON has got us 6th so far lads and nothing else,O`Dreary got us to same position but never had the same investment so we need to keep perspective, i think we could have spent 60m better but that`s just my opinion, can people also take on board that i love MON and would not have another manager, he is perfect for us ( well, nearly !! )

I don't know how you can compare o'leary's first season taking us to 6th with mon's same achievement like they're one and the same manager and should be respected for that... because that is pretty much what you're insinuating, right? At no point under o'leary's taking us to 6th down to anything HE did in my opinion, but more a good team set up the took itself up to 6th under the new manager syndrome. I think you really are stabbing yourself in the foot with that comment and proving you are just looking to have a moan. Under MON we play a different type of football, we attract a different type of player, there's a different kind of connection between club/fans once more and more importantly, bar a few, the majority of us are happy with what goes on.

I`m just trying to say that we haven`t finished 4th yet, i`m trying to make people get some perspective of our actual achievements so far, we were in the bottom 3 under DOL by the way and he turned it around to get us 6th (Solano signing) so new manager syndrome wouldn`t be the case there, MON is fantastic and i wouldn`t want anyone else but this was a thread on transfers so far and if you think they`ve all been fab then i`ll accept your opinion so please accept mine.
