'If It's Football, It's Vital'

It's Official, Heskey Signs

The official site have just revealed that Emile Heskey has officially joined our ranks.

The 31 year old England striker becomes Martin O'Neill's first capture of the transfer window and he has joined on a 3 1/2 year contract after leaving Wigan.

Speaking after being reunited with his former Leicester charge, O'Neill said:

'I am absolutely delighted. He has been a brilliant player for a number of years and this is great news.

'It gives us all a big boost - the football club, myself and the players.'

Speaking of finding his way to the correct club in Birmingham, Heskey added:

'I am very excited. It's a big club. I am delighted to be here and I can't wait to put on the shirt.'

Should be interesting to see if O Neill goes with a Heskey - Agbonlahor partnership... Would certainly suit Gabby I would imagine.

Good signing.

now we will see an influx of people saying "good signing". 2 weeks later, moaning. well for me, the best signing we ever made was Martin Oneill. whatever he buys, im behind that player as he is going to battle for us, Villains. all the best Heskey.
Gruck
he is our 2nd signing. don't forget the legend that is Arsenio Halfuid! im pleased MON. good work. wouldn't mind sturridge and kightly coming in though! or failing that, drogba and robben
ric112
good.with Gabby, they will form deadly duo
Poncho
I`ve always thought he would be a good signing and i have no doubts he will be an even better player in our team.

I think it's a great signing and people should be excited! The Holte End is going to be loving it when he's winning everything in the air for the likes of Gabby, Young, Milner and Sidwell to run onto. It gives us another option when we can't break through stubborn defences. Knock the ball upto Big Emile and defenders will be petrified of the knock downs. 4th or higher, we're on the way..

Hope your faith is justified Gruck. I'm very disappointed in many ways. If the reported 60k a week deal is true I don't understand it at all. I don't think it can be justified paying him more than any of our existing players. Also as we create enough chances in games at the moment, Heskey will add little to the team. We don't need his link up play nor his alleged goal threat. Why oh why? Felt far better about the signing of Harewood than this.

St PAul. "It gives us another option when we can't break through stubborn defences. Knock the ball upto Big Emile and defenders will be petrified of the knock downs." John Carew is far superior, albeit a bit work shy.
MONsCABA
As MON said, when you hear the likes of Rooney, Shearer and Owen say that he's a joy to play in the same team with then he must be a good un. It's not all about goals with him either, which suits the current work ethic at VP. Lets give him a chance
Madirish
If you hadn't noticed MONsCABA, Carew is injured, and MON has little faith in Harewood as a sub to come on and change things. I for one am not jumping up and down in my seat over this signing, but it's another positive signing that (at least in my book) continues to improve us as a squad battling on 3 fronts.
YatesyVillain
not a bad signing i suppose, not what everyone wanted but i suppose he could prove his worth in gold if he can just stay fit, but he did pass a medical, good signs so far!
AussieVilla
MONsCABA, I would agree that Carew at his veruy best is probably a more lethal player than Heskey at his best. However, Carew at his best is a very rare thing indeed, even when free from injury, he is lazy. Heskey will give at least 90% every game and that is why I would have Heskey in my team over Carew any day of the week. As Madirish said, there's a reason for the likes of Shearer, Owen & Co paying him big compliments so let's wait and see.

I will be giving him a chance before i jump on his back, some people.........
