Nice work if you can get it. Sadly I can't...!

80k a week for this chump who spends most of his time rolling around on the floor rather than scoring goals?!! He's no John Carew. But it looks as if he's going to be replacing him!

He will not be on 80 grand a week i can tell you that,Ashley young will remain our top earner for obvious reasons.Great signing just what we need.

I read somewhere that ash is on 56ka week. Surely O'Neill wouldn't risk dressing room unrest by giving Heskey 80k a week? Hopefully it's false and if so I think it's a great signing- we're going to have about 6 or 7 in the next england team!

Its bollox for sure, if he didn't want to give Diarra 70k a week he's not going to go further for a much older and injury prone striker who is guaranteed to spend at least 5 games in the hospital each year.

the mighty heskey hasnt even pulled on a shirt for us yet - lets give him a chance. MON knows all about this man and was responsible for launching his career. I would love to know what Michael Own thinks of him coming to us!?!?!?!?!?!?

Owen's coming, I've got a bet on him scoring 5 goals for Villa by the end of the season.

like i said in the january thread, I think he's what we need right now. Big John is never fit these days, even when he plays, and whilst Heskey doesn't score much, he does an awful lot else that we've been lacking since big John's "Back injury"

PTP you bet Owen will score 5 goals or Heskey? If Heskey signs and we get another like Bent shortly after I guess it wont be a disaster. Still a massive waste of money though. We can always play him in the unimportant/easy games like Donny i guess give Gabby a break.

Yeah cause Heskey is only played in the easy England games too.

Not a Heskey fan to be honest. Another experienced bod though to battle for a starting place. As long as he doesn't embarass us by falling like he has been shot every time a defender breathes on him!! UTV

OS says 3.5 mil. NO way its 80K, maybe if he was on a free but it would surely upset half the camp if true.

its not going to be 80k, MON is a frugal and dont you think it would upset the balance of the team? MON thinks about all sides of a problem and this is again another stroke of Genius, 3.5 mil we get a proven England team player. GB will be very happy (and I heard that from my doormans freind who knows Gareths moms!)

Could be the link we are missing.Owen said he is the best partner he has played with, given his power and pace(Anyone remember England 5-Germany 1).He wins everything in the air,and can run the channels, yes he does go down....and long may it continue as long as we are getting free kicks out of it.Oh and he can play in the FA Cup and Europe...where his experience will be vital.Keep em comin MON...this could be the best season in a long time!! I think this is a shrewd signing. Yes, he's injury prone, but so is Carew it would seem. With any luck, at least one of them will be fit at any given time. I also think he's as a good a player now as he's ever been. Two or three years ago and I wouldn't be as positive about this move.

It seems since he moved to Wigan (and I hate to say this) Bruce got him playing to his best, I have never ever been his greatest fan but we do need another powerful forward. Now lets take a gamble and go for owen?

Well Harewood will be off for around 3 mill so we will get out money back for Emile. Hey, this is a great signing. What's going to keep us at the top? Goals. That's what.

At first I wasn't happy about signing Heskey, but having thought about it I reckon MON will bring the best out of him. Arguably, the most fruitful period of Emile's career has been under O'Neill. MON sold him to Liverpool for 11M about 9 years ago! Yes he's got older, but we should give the guy a chance. At least 3 or 4 matches I think, he may bring the best out in Gabby and Milner?? And if it doesn't work out . . . we'll have the satisfaction of knowing Liverpool wanted him and he came to the Villa. We can't lose on this one!

I just worry his best is not good enough. Never mind lets grab Bent and then we have 3 different options, 4 when Carew is back, I will be much happier with our striking options once we get a more potent goal scorer.
