Unoial Villa News...

News is a bit thin on the ground at the moment, the only talk is the UEFA Cup build up and the mixed reactions! Gareth Barry agreed that the decision was difficult for the Villa boss and said he can see why players might need a rest ahead of Stoke at the weekend. James Milner says Villa can still win adding that CSKA are a good team but says Villa also have plenty of good players, not just the first choice 11.

Meanwhile, the man who makes all the decisions - and God knows how I'd hate his or any other managers job, I'd be dead in a week - Martin O'Neill said in the Sunday Mercury that he thinks the young lads selected can do a job and have a great 'opportunity' saying 'We're not going to be defeatist.' Vital Villa have been nominated for an award, as have I for 'best editor' and several including glensider, murph, Steve Wade and me for best writer. Channel Five have explained why the Villa game won't be shown. Something about Neighbours and Home & Away and more ... ! Football On Five Explain Why No CSKA v Villa

Vital Villa asked how seriously MON should take the team selection for the UEFA: 46% said MON should take the selections VERY seriously by playing the best 36% voted 'Fairly - play some of the 2nd string' and just 14% thought he shouldn't take it seriously and should play the 2nd string. That left 4% voting 'Can't even begin to 2nd guess MON!!' Full article: 46% Wanted Strongest Possible Side In Uefa

MON explained his team selection: 'We want to keep momentum going in the Premier League - an opinion I am sure Villa fans would echo. But we don't really have the size of squad that Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal can call on. That's not being defeatist - that's just being realistic.' MON Says Fans Will Understand Priority

If you haven't seen the squad yet, here it is: Have Villa Waved The White Flag For UEFA Cup?

Vital Villa asked in our last poll: Is 4th all that matters? Yes apparently! 57% voted yes. 28% went for the 'We should have a big enough squad by now' and 13% voted 'No, cups are important as well.' That left 2% baffled voting 'Who knows!'

Our latest poll asks what is your prediction for the game v CSKA? (And be honest!!!)

AstonVillaFC says 'Now all that's left to say is COME ON THE VILLA, we can still do it, and if we fail we lets not go quietly! :o)' Full article: Squad v CSKA Moscow

Class of 82 asks if it is time for Villa fans to start 'prioritising' as well? Time For Villa Fans To Start Prioritising?
