Football On Five Explain Why No CSKA v Villa

RealVilla got in touch with Football On Five to see why the CSKA Moscow v Villa game wasn't being screened. They told him:

Thank you for your recent enquiry regarding Football On Five.

There are two reasons why we will not be transmitting coverage of the CSKA Moscow v Aston Villa UEFA Cup Round of 32 game on 26th February. Firstly, CSKA decided that they would kick the game off at 5pm UK time which makes it impossible to fit in our schedule with the disruption it would cause to Neighbours and Home And Away. Secondly, the Russians did not want to sell highlights of the game even though we made them an offer for this and therefore our hands are tied.

We sincerely hope Aston Villa progress through to the last 16 of this year's UEFA Cup and will then look forward to their game at Villa Park against Tottenham Hotspur or Shakhtar Donetsk live on Five.

If there is anything further we can help you with, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you for your interest in Five.

Yours sincerely

Fair enough, but what i don't get is if CSKA wouldnt change the kick off time for the British Audience why did Villa agree to an earlier kick off to suit the Russians??

Good, I never miss an episode of Home and Away, wouldnt have been too bothered about missing Neighbours though.

It's only the Uefa Cup and not a priority to the fans or the Club according to most posts on here so who cares.

They have cancelled Home and Away & Neighbours for the football before, during the group stages when there was 2 games on a night on Five.
