'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Friday's Transfer Talk For Aston Villa

No surprises that today the papers are full of the supposedly imminent signing of Wigan and former Liverpool striker Emile Heskey

The Mirror claim we'll have to pay around £80 000 a week for the England international's services, a sum he'd get if he waited until the summer and went back to Liverpool on a free.

They go on to claim that the Villa boss is 'deadly serious' about grabbing Emile from under the Reds noses and to once again team up with Heskey who he managed whilst at Leicester City.

The Mirror also claim in another snippet that O'Neill is set to fly to Europe to watch another potential target this weekend. Blimey, wish I could narrow down rumours that well. Hmmm, Europe, so small an area, who could he be after!!!!

Martin O'Neill has told the Birmingham Mail 'There are lots of things that we can improve in our team, absolutely.' Yes, correct, I am scraping about for transfer news again!

Villa are also, once again, being linked with 19-year-old Manchester City striker Daniel Sturridge who as we reported earlier in the week is stalling on a new deal at City and is out of contract in the summer. The City link doesn't stop there either, again I've seen 20-year-old midfielder Michael Johnson mentioned.

(Plenty of stuff on Emile Heskey in our latest headlines on the front page including his goal scoring record + two Wigan fan interviews about the player)

its a definte then just saw on sky sports news that Villa have agreed a 4 mill fee with Wigan, and he is now on his way to Villa for talks. Also i have heard from many people now that Villa will bid 12 million for Johnson and Sturridge. UTV

I hope we do get Heskey as he will certainly do a job for us and relieve the pressure on us to get Carew fit again [and the perenial injury worries - anyone can get injured!]. I would also like to see us hijack the Hull move for Jimmy Bullard. He is a top 10 midfielder, and would add depth to the squad. Sidwell hasn't set the world alight, though I hope he will, and Jimmy would fit that role well as well as add competition for places.

£4mil !!! Steve bruce is laughing all the way to he bank!

Doncaster is a bit far to fly too surely? When's MON planning his little excursion then?! Tomorrow night????

I reckon there is a good chance he will sign by lunch-time and then he can be in the squad for tomorrow.
AVGD
I hope he fails his medical.

Bullards quality AVGD I agree, but we've got so many CM at the moment and I don't think any of them are leaving this season. I'd rather have Johnson tbh so I'm hoping that Sturridge and Johnson link is true. Is Sturridge really a Villa fan?
PTP
PTP, yeah its true that Sturridge is a Villa fan. UTV

Hope MON is on his way to Salzburg to look at Marc Janko.
