46% Wanted Strongest Possible Side In Uefa

46% Wanted Strongest Possible Side In Uefa

Vital Villa asked in our last poll

Selection wise, how seriously should MON take the UEFA?

Now we have the squad selection announced: Have Villa Waved The White Flag For UEFA Cup? and MON's reasons behind it: MON Says Fans Will Understand Priority there seems little point keeping the poll going.

Seems, despite MON saying the fans will understand, he might have misjudged the hunger amongst us to actually compete and win something.

46% said MON should take the selections VERY seriously by playing the best 36% voted 'Fairly - play some of the 2nd string' and just 14% thought he shouldn't take it seriously and should play the 2nd string.

That left 4% voting 'Can't even begin to 2nd guess MON!!'

I was going to ask in the next poll if MON was right to make this selection but I guess we'll not know the answer until after the game! The latest poll therefore asks if 4th is all that matters to you, remembering that 4th just gets us to a qualification match for the Champions League proper. God how I hate the money crazed Champions League, bring back the European Cup for champions !

quite strange but i think he has done the right thing. it was always going to divide opinion but MON has made a bold decision - now we really have to beat Stoke or it will seriously backfire.

i think your right. if we lose to stoke, then MON will be in for a storm of critisism. but in his defense, we really do need to rest palyers. they looked very tired the last three games.

Agreed beat stoke and its the right choice. I love being an armchair manager its so easy. But seriously its the right thing to do. This is a great chance to break the " big four monopoly" and it should be our priority. This is the last 32 of the UEFA cup if it was a semi or quater final i would think differently perhaps but even if we get through it would still be another 7 games to play to go all the way.

i would go further - i think if we don't finish 4th or above this season and use the opportunity to strengthen, then i don't think we'd finish higher than 6th next season - behind the usual suspects, Man City and Everton.

If 46% were in favour of playing our strongest team, regardless of other considerations, doesn't that mean that 54% were NOT in favour of that? :o)

Only allow champions to play in the Champions league, I say, that being Prem, FA and League cup champions, with perhaps a play off place for second in the prem assuming we get 4 places. This will reinstate the value of all our domestic competitions and mean that we are being represented by real champions. It will also mean 3 and 4th place getting UEFA qualification which might just rais the quality of competition there too.

agreed Villan, would be much better, win something and get into the CL, then you really are having a league of champions. Will never happen though, too many vested interests and too much money in the CL.
