'If It's Football, It's Vital'

A Moments Reflection

A wiseman said after the game 'theres positives to take from today's game' i.e. we weren't that far off quality wise from one of Europe's best teams.....the poor sod got some flack for it until rescued by a pensioner later on, but I knew what he meant. I was gutted merely because we had lost a game, it could have been against Wigan for all I cared! but this season we've done very well against the 'big 4'. Last season we lost at home to 'pool, man ure and arsenal....this year we got draws AND a win at the Emirates. ok we beat Chelsea, and im still convinced that if scolari were still there we would have got at least a point on Saturday! Im sure we can get a draw at anfield but not so sure about man ure.

Our team is young, hungry, and its a new experience for a lot of them (if not all) to be challenging for the prestigious top 4!!!!!! Beginning of the season id have taken 5th place, and part of me still would, we're a millions miles away from being a regular in the top 4....Saturday, at times, showed that, but we are getting there! No doubt in my mind we are....

Reading an article on Sunday about the Holte and some of the things the new chairman has done certainly took the pain away from Saturdays loss.....this club is going places!! maybe not 100mph, but were going places! If im honest I wasn't quite sure we'd duplicate what we did last term, but we've matched it and in my opinion, bettering it!!

MON said we'll bounce back, and I KNOW we will..........now is the best time I've EVER known to be a villa fan, certainly in my life time, and I look forward to seeing where we'll be in couple or so years time!

As for this season, no League cup no FA cup and there's a chance that this time next week there'll be no UEFA cup, the premiership is THE main objective at the moment....there's so many pluses to a finish in the top 4 and its vital (no pun intended) that we do it at the very latest next season!! Im sure we will......infact I KNOW we will!!

Agreed, well said that man

Absolutely spot on wth your views about where we are in terms of the top 4...stil a long long way from being regular top 4...Weve had a great season coupled by Arsenals poor one for hatever reasons...I think if we dont make it now we never will
Euro_Champs_82
The Chelsea game should be looked upon as nothing more than a minor set back, but i do worry that we are gonna struggle for goals, Gabby is having an off period, and although everyone says we score lots from the team as a whole, we have struggled to take our chances recently.
young_jonah
We're going through a slight banana skin period which, lets be fair, was always coming......losing your 1st game in 16 to chelsea is nothing to be ashamed of, but we have to bounce back in the league starting with sunday

Gabby definitely needs a rest. Play the Fonz in Moscow and he should get a couple against Stoke. Think that we're missing Nige to do the dirty work for the rest of the team and where is Laursen?? Saw him with his fit missus in the club shop in town last week. He wasn't hobbling, so if he can walk he should play instead of going shopping!!

Stoke will be a big game, if we lose that then we are all doomed. Gabby, Heskey and Carew need to be working on finishing all week.

It wasn't just that old fella that backed up the wise good looking one....I also agreed that there wasn't a lot in it against a team that lost the league on goal difference and the Champs League on penalties last season

As deano said on saturday "we're missing reo-coker"

good grief, wise words from Benham, who'd have thunked it?!
The Fear
We actually matched Chelsea this year , although we won last year they had 70% possession .

Wise words from Benny. I wonder if he still has his wooly hat?

Hope Heskey works out for you - I was sad to see him go. But he doesn't score that often, so don't expect much in that department. Great to see a real fan's team competing with the "big 4" prima donnas.
