What Sort Of Signing Will Heskey Make Then?

What Sort Of Signing Will Heskey Make Then?

Well, it seems to be the worst kept secret at the moment, but it does look like there could be substance in the rumours that Wigan and former Liverpool striker Emile Heskey could be on his way to Villa Park shortly.

The conversation I just had with a very good... wait for it... source... (!!!) ... is sure of the facts. This is a member of the press who I've had dealings with for years and to be fair, when he has said things this firmly, he has never been wrong. Always a first time though, never official until in the shirt on the pitch.

Anyway, you have to back what the manager wants, there aren't that many around at the moment and obviously we don't know who else has been sounded out, as Heskey, despite a blue period (see what I did there?!) is an England regular and does give a big presence up front, despite not scoring a great deal himself. If he can feed off the crosses and help set up Gabby, it could be an interesting run in to the end of season for us.

So we are asking in our latest poll, what sort of signing do you think Emile will make? Just got to get used to not calling him a-mule now (a reference purely because he was in the Leicester City side who used to always beat us + obviously his stint at our rivals across the city!)

Interesting one, not the wow signing that we all hope and pray for but look at the table and you can't help but feel Martin O'Neill might just know what he is doing.

As said, until it is on the official site and he is in the shirt, on the pitch, then it is nothing more than a strong link. But with all the Villa sites now having posts about people being sure he is about to sign, it seems a bit too big of a coincidence.

First of a few signings hopefully!?!

I'll email the Vital Wigan editor and ask some questions for their perspective on this.

Look we will take any striker at the moment with Big John out and Ash out for 3 games we need help up front! But to get another English team player I personally think can only enhance the image of Aston Villa FC for the summer signings. So not only will we get a decent striker and a great holder of the ball, I think the goals can flow from flanks. Not to mention scare the S***T out of defences with speed and intimidation. I would also love to see a game where JC, EH, GABBY & ASH all play up front.

Its entirely plausible, Monny is the one who got Liverpool to pay 11 million for him! he will surely get the best out of him, this transfer suits everyone. heskey to keep england place and give villa more options upfront. I think for those people who doubt this one, Fabio Capello picks him!

King and Heskey out. Mido and the Colombian bloke in. Wigan must be laughing at the same way we all laughed at Wigan a few years ago when they signed Heskey from Blose.
22/01/2009 19:55:00
Beefy, you gotta admit, heskey has improved, he has redeemed himself, and a good reason why England have played well. Think its a good bit of business if true.
22/01/2009 19:57:00
I'm a massive fan, he stretches defences and plays well with pacey forwards. He's been amazing recently for England (thats a fact). Ask Micheal Own who is the best forward he's payed with - yes you've guessed it. Be interesting to get a Wigan fan's perspective. I think a lot of his detractors in the past have been slightly racist - typical from some factions of England followers.

I thought you were looking to get fourth place?! Heskey won't even be able to keep up with your speed counterattacks. Young and Agbonlahor will out run him! Step back in my opinion, though I won't mind you doing so ;)
