Liverpool Boss Says Villa Are In Title Race

Liverpool Boss Says Villa Are In Title Race

Liverpool boss and long term Gareth Barry fan (!) Rafa Benitez says that Villa are the real deal and are in the scrap for the league.

The Reds boss says you can't write off Villa so the league isn't a two horse race between Liverpool and Manchester United yet.

Must admit I think it is already a one horse race, once Man Utd get their noses ahead, they seldom mess up, but hey, we can but hope!

'Aston Villa are in a good position. I think it’s too soon to say it’s a two-horse race. We have to keep going and then maybe at the end it could be down to two teams.'

He added, 'I’m not surprised Villa are doing well because they have good players. They are working really hard and are in a good position, and that makes motivation for each game easier.'

Villa currently lie in 3rd place just 3 points behind Liverpool with a trip to Anfield to look forward to next month. Man Utd are top with a 56 points and a game in hand. Will they crack?!?

It means so much to me that such a well respected football expert has noticed us, we are truly honoured! Maybe he wants to buy some of our players for £20m that we can buy back for £12m.

Well iif Villa is in title race then why we are putting us (Chelsea) with only two points behind you with 13 games (39 points!) to play for.LOL Its a joke.MANU will be champion and neither Liverpol nor us nor Villa will be able to win the league. It will be a fight between the 3 and Arsenal .Well I am relieved to see Hiddink will be in charge against you and I will be hoping for a draw.Looking at your Fixture still have to play us,ManU and Liverpool and Everton I see you drop quite some points

"the league isn't a two horse race between Liverpool and Manchester United yet"........ Yet ? It never was, and for the rest of this season it isn't ! This isn't aimed at Villa imo, it's aimed at keeping his own players from that sinking feeling that they've blown it. The momentum is with Villa for second

Mind games from Rafa. Trying to add pressure. No pressure. No one expected us to be where they are (except me!) Yes we still hav eto go to Old Trafford and Anfield but you seem to be forgetting something Saimon_blues, We have the best away record in the Prem. I have to admit to being slightly worried about "Goose" Hiddink taking charge for the Villa v Chelsea game. New manager syndrone and all that. Chelsea clearly have a lot of great players as demonstrated by our game ot The Bridge earlier on in the season.
