Luke Young Voted Best Summer Signing

Luke Young Voted Best Summer Signing

Vital Villa asked, in a poll suggested by Villan444:

Which summer signing has proved best value so far?

Luke Young, who we signed from Middlesbrough as a right-back and has deputised nicely at left-back in the absence of Wilf and Shorey, won with 44%.

Our goalkeeper purchase from Blackburn Rovers, Brad Friedel was second with 33%

Former Newcastle United winger James Milner came third with 16%.

That left Carlos Cuellar bought from Rangers with 5%.

Chelsea and former Reading midfielder Steve Sidwell got 2% but I reckon we've not seen the best of him yet, he'll come good!

Brad Guzan and Nicky Shorey didn't register any votes which is understandable for Guzan who is understudy to Friedel.

Shame with Shorey but footie is a funny old game, maybe he'll surprise the manager at some point and start pushing for a start...?

Few very good signings there, Guzan could be a regular for us for years to come if he ends up half as good as the other USA keepers who have moved to the Prem. Young has slotted in brilliantly and isn't even in the position he prefers, I think Milner will just grow and grow and Sidwell hopefully will settle and start banging in the goals!

I would have said Friedel was the best signing. He's been in fantastic form.

Buzz Lightyear: Your just saying that yourself because Sturridge is on his way to us and you think you can counter react by starting a rumour. Ash is going nowhere his here with us to save football..............

how can young be a better signing than Friedel??? don't understand it, imagine what this season would be like if we hadn't signed one or the other. If we had signed young but not Friedel? we would have conceded MANY more goals.

Agree krisvilla, Milner could become a massive player for us over the years. Just a bit of fun industrial_musical, don't stress it! LOL

ha ha industrial_musical you're highly strung mate! You're right too, thank god we don't have Carson no more, liability that chap, but I think their has been a number of good signings by monny, this year, but to have a consistent right back (playing at left back) is what we needed ha ha. Luke Young is very consistent, and you can't say fairer than that, just makes you wonder why we never signed him before 'Boro did.
