England Update

According to the FA's website, SIX of our players are in the full squad for England's friendly against Spain next Wednesday.

Luke Young, Gareth Barry, James Milner, Ashley Young, Gabby Agbonlahor and Emile Heskey have been selected by Fabio Capello.

More to follow - I would assume.

what a joke no Davies, Crapello includes Upson instead, what is going on?
pksandell
I mean, I hope they don't play. But i LOVE the recognition for the lads. I am especially pleased for Luke Young. I think that's well deserved and should be a great signal to all fringe England players at other clubs that Villa is the place to regain your spot. He's been a rock and I think the best signing of the summer.
los_angeles_villan
I think that he excluded Davies because then he would have had to include Knight! I really do think they are doing the job equally out there.
los_angeles_villan
currently third, 6 players in the england squad... engvilla for the world cup!

"More to follow - I would assume." What, six not enough? :o)

Martin O'Neill is a fff******ing genius.
los_angeles_villan
Heskey will drop out due to injury, how about Nathan Instead!!!!
pksandell
lol bob, I did mean more news to follow, reactions and so on. But considering you said it, can I claim I meant in the next England squad announcement we can hope for 10 players in it. Give it another 12 months if we expand our squad I fully expect Capello to select 23 players from us. :-) Surprised at no Davies though, maybe he thought he might be overdoing it selecting 6.

Got to agree los_angeles_villan MON is a genius actually I think he is God. If we make champions league who will he bring in without disturbing the current players? Anybody who does come in will have to fit the current MON mould, english and looking to get back in the England squad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
pksandell
Barry is out of everton game-booking and possibly carlos and heskey due to injury.
pksandell
In the summer we can hopefully sign Richards and Owen who will both be looking to get back into the England set up and what better place to do it than Aston Villa, then there's also Sidwell, Reo Coker, Davies that will be looking to break into that England set up, i think Shorely is near the end of his Villa career let alone his England International one.
Villa 4 Ever

Obviously I agree that Davies should be in the squad however Mr. C was always going to pick Upson. Didn't he score and get MOTM in the last England game?
Adam Deuce
How many will get a cap though ???

Says a lot for how Villa are playing this season - Well done fellas Villa are the most represented Premier League side .. and not an Arsenal or Liverpool player in sight !
Chix
