O'Neill Refuses To Set Targets

Despite finding ourselves in third place, a full two points ahead of Chelsea, O'Neill is refusing to set any targets for the season.

Well at least in public anyway.

Speaking on the official site after the 2-0 away win against Blackburn, O'Neill celebrated our record seven away wins on the trot by telling everyone he isn't getting carried away with things.

'I am delighted, of course, but I am genuinely not targetting anything.

'We are going great and we deserve to be where we are in the table. But the main thing is keeping this momentum going - we really must. It really is so, so important.

'I thought we deserved to win the game. Obviously, until we scored that second goal it was in the balance. The first time I was able to relax was when we doubled our lead at the end.

'We created a lot of chances, particularly when you consider we were away from home.

'I thought the team played magnificently. I couldn't be more pleased for them because they have put their heart and soul into it.

'We have a lot of belief about ourselves and the team is playing excellently, really excellently.'

Never afraid to praise the fans, O'Neill also singled out the away contingent again today.

'The crowd were fantastic - absolutely phenomenal.

'There was only a small area behind the goal which wasn't filled. I heard we took about 5,000 supporters with us, which was terrific.

'That made for a fantastic atmosphere and it was the same here. The fans were really brilliant.'
