Wednesday's Aston Villa Transfer Talk

Wednesday's Aston Villa Transfer Talk

The Mirror today claim that we are after Manchester City's 19-year-old striker Daniel Sturridge. As mentioned the other day on Vital Villa, the contract talks at City seem to have halted and the young prospect could be available. Looks a great talent and would fit in with Martin O'Neill's young and mainly British policy! Sturridge is available on a free in the summer as his contract ends. City boss Mark Hughes says he is hopeful of keeping him 'We are still negotiating and we hope it can be concluded soon' but the player is stalling on negotiations. Blackburn are also said to be interested.

I believe, as also mentioned the other day, that Michael Johnson might also be available and has been linked to Villa before.

The Daily Mail claim that 30-year-old Chelsea striker Didier Drogba would like to return to his former club Marseille. How about doing it via a journey to Villa Park for a season or so?!

Also another player we have been linked with, this time Newcastle's Charles N'Zogbia has apparently had a training ground bust up with Andy Carroll. Maybe this will hasten his exit. Good news for Villa if he is available or just too much trouble? I have NO clue at all...!

Hope City do buy a whole new squad, they've got a few players that would do well for us and if the City owners are in need of top names rather than top players we could get ourselves a couple of good ones off them.

I doubt there will be much action till the last week/few days, nobody does much until then. I'm confident MON will bring us 2 players and if they're good enough to break into our first team we have a decent chance of 4th.

This is promising...at least he appears to be looking (or at least pretending to look): "We will treat this FA Cup in the right manner - as a real proper cup tie - and try to get through. "But there might be a point in prioritising. I don't know. A lot will depend on what happens in the transfer market in the next fortnight."

Drogba is too big a name for MON to sign.

Drogba is a sulky little child we don't need his unsettling behaviour at the Villa.Sturridge and Johnson I would take in a heart beat, they would fit perfect into the long term plans for the club.Maybe offer 10-12 mil for the two of them and you never know.

I agree with HappyVillan. I can really imagine something happening with Sturridge or Johnson. But Drogba, that is just a joke. MON wouldn't want him, Drogba wouldn't want to come to Villa, we can't afford him, and he would mess up our wages level. N'Zogbia, again I can imagine wanting to come, but I don't think MON would want a sulking French man either. Our former sulking Czech players was bad enough, and it only took MON less than 6 months to get rid of him!

Sturridge can't be valued anymore than £2m best. Only just broken into City's squad, and although impressive not consistent over seasons yet (eg. Stead at Blackburn), with a contract up at the end of the season. Johnson isn't in the City squad at all at the moment, is he injured?! Again, if he isn't is it the case of second-season syndrome, after last seasons impressive performaces? So once more you could not really say anymore than £5-6m for him.

MON will have to make big name signings at some point YJ.
