'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Martin O'Neill LOVES It At Villa

Martin O'Neill - no doubt relieved albeit frustrated that the transfer window has closed - says the season has been 'terrific' so far and wants the players to keep on keeping on despite the amount of fixtures that they face.

The Villa boss explained on the official site:

'When you see players at the end of a game absolutely and utterly physically drained, you have to have a lot of pride in them. That was the case in the dressing room this weekend. They couldn't have put one more ounce into that football game. I have a great regard for the team.'

Makes you wonder what the hell some of the nuggets were booing for at the end of the game? Even Steve Bruce admitted he'd never seen a team of his under the kosh so much getting away with a point.

O'Neill also says he realised the team aren't the finished article yet but says there is a resilience, 'we're in there and we don't give up. We keep going.'

And he says there are no easy games for Villa, 'It is relentless - absolutely colossal. There is no respite - you have to keep going. Our win at Portsmouth feels like 10 minutes ago.'

The manager, who some Man Utd fans think of as FUM (future United manager) proves his love for being at Villa!

On Villa he says; 'It is really fantastic. This football club is wonderful. It has a fantastic history. It is really a privilege to be manager of the club. It is great.'

And he also says he is enjoying himself saying he loves it. 'I always say I haven't enjoyed a football match for 15 years but that is a joke. I love it - it's really great.'

That is just lovely to read, or as MON would say, terrific.

Have put the quote above in bold into the random quotes for the forum, superb sentance from MON!
The Fear
Good to see Heskey arrive. MON must have given him some assurances about staying for the long term, at least 3.5 years anyway....
love the man. best signing villa ever made in this 21st century.
He is really fantastic. This football club is wonderful and it has a fantastic history. It is really a privilege to have MON as manager of our club. He is great. : )
Really great
Hook line and sinker lol's
I've like O'Niel for a long time now, his days at Celtic were wonderful, did and is doing a great job at Villa too, great guy as well.
Oh dear, avfc48. your venom is really dripping now. How you must hate it with Villa sitting in the top four. How you must hate it every time Villa pick up another point. What a terribly sad time for you ...
I am starting to think that AVFC48 was once tricked by a leprauchaun as his hate towards MON is so unreasonable. Maybe he was once promised a pot of gold by someone who looked like MON and received nothing for his endeavours. What will he say if we finish top 4??? No doubt that we should have won the league. Definitely him behind the dugout last Saturday moaning which upset our leader.
I woudnt swap MON for anybody. All you have to do is take a trip back in time to the David (HONEST BUNCH OF LADS) O'dearme years and relise what a job he has done for us.We are now serious contenders instead of the laughing stock(i mean even bluenoses took the ***** for a couple of years)that we was back then.We now have the best manager and best owner you could want and if ya can't be happy bein a villa fan at the momment then ya never will.
Mr A Villa
he'll love it even more when we start raking in the silverware and he'll deserve it too
Astonian Villan
Why hook line and sinker avfc48, why can't there be joy for him working at Villa and for Villa fans to see a manager happy and not moaning? Don't quite understand where the hook, the line or the sinker are. That doesn't all of a sudden mean we all think he is a genius in the transfer window or that we are going to win the league this very instant.
The Fear
Go and watch the unwashed at the sty avfc48 then you will have real reason to moan. IN MON WE TRUST
50 years a villan
I bet avfc48 hated Ron Saunder's and his team of champions. The reason I say this is becuase the remarkable simularity between the two teams a - not looks just playing style. Could do with a Cowans and a Shaw/Withe combo but hey, things are on the up.
Top manager, no doubt about it. Makes me wonder if the united job did come up and he got offered it, Would he ***** on us and bail??? Id be devestated as we'd never get anyone as good.
Would he bail? If we boo him and his team when we're doing better than we have for decades, why would he want to stay?
tell u Villans, you'll have a hard time hanging onto him once the season ends............lucrative offers are gonna come from Stamford Bridge his'll be a test of his mettle, whether he decides to put behind the memories of Villa Park behind and embark on another exciting, promising journey.......
Being an Arsenal supporter Tambling I am perhaps not the best to offer an opinion on this and saying nice things about O'Neill on this thread can get you banned from the Vitalfootball network altogether............. but anyway here goes................ if you think that O'Neill cares about money that much or would go to a club with that much interference from above then you have little understanding of the man.
bum you don't have an understanding about how things are in the real world..............maybe someday when youre trophyless senile club goes bancrupt and ends up being some respected wealthy business tycoon*'s share of property will you end up being more realistic and considerate ..................parents and wellwishers are supposed to advise you on the rights and wrongs, the do's and donts, aren't they? or maybe its not so in case of the Gooners camp scouts................;-)
MON can turn Villa into a major European force / world wide brand a la Man Utd. If he wants he can be to Villa what SAF has been to Man Utd. Imagine the satisfaction something like that would give him. Why would he want to go to Man Utd or Chelsea who have had recent sucess and where success is expected. There will be no satisfaction in that. Much better to turn a club that has under achieved for 25 years into world beaters. We love you too MON.
Adam Deuce
by the way how come are u so sure that interference so much in vogue at that club? you seem to be spending more time stealing in and spying on them rather than be confined to the premises of the Emirates Stadium............or maybe there ain't much left there anymore to keep you bound to that place heh???
indeed MON a great person, really inspirational leader, knows how to infuse some real guts and steel into his boys, and bring out the best.............maybe the fact that a ManU or Chelsea/Arsenal have that little bit more of resources, fundings at their disposal and the prospect of achieving immediate success may prove decisive in luring him away......I'm not saying he'll end up at SW6 for sure.............but the possibility remains...........maybe he will in fact prove me wrong and be around for 10 more years with SuperVilla earning accolades aplenty............
not to mention major titles as well................Best Wishes..............
I was just giving my opinion Tambling and not being offensive about your club or you, which seems to be your way of responding to my opinion. What you say about the "real" world may be true and clearly you like Martin O'Neill but I don't think you will ever understand the man and his values.
Is your full stop stuck?
come on bum, lets be friends shall we? caught u offguard didn't I!!!!! I love ur club and your lot of 9 year olds............near failto amaze me, the way they pass around the park..............Love them............... No for MON, I was expressing my wish not my want or demand..........must say, I was a little bit hurt by the way you made an untrue and disheartening notion about my beloved Chelsea...............
It IS stuck!
hey azreal, tell me how was Heskey's debut? Did he fare well? With Carew somewhat out of sorts this season he has to play very well to help Villa gatecrash the big four....
Heskey? If you call scoring on your debut and beating one of the best keepers in the league from near 20 yards faring well, then he fared ok! Big John is now on his way back, and if MON sees fit to play them side by side, I can see a lot of reluctant defences lining up against us for the remainder of the season. Top 4 is definitely on.
Hmmm...but you know what the sooner Young comes back into the thick of actions , the better it is for Villa. He is a conjurer, almost like a Cristiano for u guys...Villa are so fortunate to have him. I rate him very highly. I oft pray to God to strike some sense into Abra's mind and make him help Scolari steal the young magician from your camp..
Why is there an argument ensuing between a ManUtd and Arsenal fan on this forum??? PS. AVFC48 - get a grip. Your misery is ludicrous - go and watch Blues.
What a load of rubbish welshbum, an Arsenal fan got banned yesterday for ripping into a Villa fan. No one gets banned for having a football opinion, get a grip.
The Fear
Our spending power exceeds that of Arsenal. Man Utd are the biggest draw in the country, just a fact that can't be argued but I don't believe they'd go for MON at the age he is and think this might well be the last job MON does unless he gets drawn into an international job. Could be wrong, just enjoying the ride at the moment, hook line and sinker!
The Fear
That booing was bizarre - 3 goal line clearances and a couple bouncing of the woodwork in the second half was the only reason we didn't score. I love that fact than MON loves the Villa and I really can't see him going anywhere else. I think he'll end his career at VP - he won't get a better chairman at any other club.
MON wouldn't go to Chelsea unless they got rid of Kenyon because he has to much influence on transfers. MON likes to deal with everything and has said so in the past.
