The Final Jan Transfer Rumours For Villa!

The Final Jan Transfer Rumours For Villa!

OK, so all is quite on the Western Front, or at least the Villa transfer gossip front. Does that mean something is about to happen or that the door is about to close abruptly for Villa?!?! Who knows!

Martin O'Neill often leaves things until the death, who can forget the spell bindingly exciting arrival of Moustapha Salifou at the 11th hour of a transfer window? Ok, ok, maybe best forgotten come to think about it!

Not really anything concrete going on rumour wise, in fact for me there isn't even a hint of a whisper of a possible rumour. Usually there is something around! I was told that Daniel Sturridge does want to move to Villa and is prepared to wait until the summer if needs be.

Well The Times today seem to expect us to sign him today. They claim we'll grab a defender due tot he absence of Villa captain Martin Laursen and get the signing of the Manchester City striker who can move on a free in the summer.

Other than that the link to Manchester City defender Micah Richards seems to be doing the rounds, he'd be a good signing and would fit into the MON mould of young and English but do Manchester City - especially whilst still in the mix for the relegation fight - really need to sell players? It isn't as if they need money is it?

The reports claim we are prepared to pay £7million for him. I'm sure that is true but I'm not sure Citeh will have any interest letting him go.

Time will tell. The transfer window closes at 5pm.

Stay tuned....!

What do you reckon, a late surprise or the transfer window going out with a fizz instead of a bang?!

I'd like to believe this deafening silence is symbolic of Martin and Randy hurriedly going about their business and getting a deal or two done but can't help but feel we've had our lot. I hope my belief wins over my feeling...

No doubt they're trying, they wouldn't be sitting on their arses drinking horlicks when they've got 6 hours to do something until the summer. Lets hope MON gets lucky, I'm a believer

Fear - it will go with a whimper - no way citeh will sell Richards. We may get that winger from Shrewsbury though.

I hope we get more but dont think Richards will be one of them - any truth in the dealine being extended again because of the weather??

As I said yesterday, Richards performances have been below par for some time, so Man Citeh may well decide to cash in on him at £7million. He may be one of those who has not fulfilled his potential, however at Villa he would have a better chance of becoming a top player, something he has seldom looked like since his first season. I have a feeling he will be a Villa player by the end of the day.

Surely we won't get any joy from Citeh? Better shopping abroad especially given our high flying status UTV

i reckon we will sign someone completely random from azerbaijan or someone who plays in the outer mongolian 3rd divison. whatever the media claim, they often know next to nothing about what MON is planning.

Paper talk says Randy's flown in especially for deadline day. That means there's a surprise or two in store, I reckon. Richards, N'Zog, Sturridge in; Harewood out.
