'If It's Football, It's Vital'

February The Deciding Month?

FEB the deciding month ?

Interesting month ahead for a team with some fans desirous of trophies and not the usual rhetoric and down play of expectation.

All competitions, could be decided come March depending on how our 'still small squad' according to O'Neill, copes.

With his 'indication' he may decide to prioritise games, who knows what team will be picked. At least some of the injured will return, the threat of more, remains, and of course so many are on the borderline of
suspensions.

Wed 4th comes Doncaster, who I know are really up for beating us out of the FA Cup. If they don't, next up is Liverpool or Everton, low priority now, perhaps Not for me, but, maybe for O'Neill and if he did with the Merseyside's away I'd understand. Fixture congestion we don't need.

Next up Blackburn away and Chelsea at home. Both hard games, Blackburn under Allardyce will be no fools, his Bolton teams always made it hard, but with Arsenal involved in the local Derby, at Spurs, what a chance for Villa.

Chelsea may not be too hot at home but they aren't doing too bad away, and with Arsenal at home to Sunderland, ouch, worrying day that will be. 6 Points and 4th at least is ours, otherwise,..............

3 days before the 12.45 Chelsea game we have CSKA Moscow at Villa Park. Now if there was ever a game likely to be prioritised that will be it, which when you consider all the previous rhetoric about how important gaining UEFA qualification, I wonder.

Chelsea is without doubt for me the most important fixture along with the Liverpool game we have left, winning both makes my wish of a top 3 finish realistic. So do we downgrade the CSKA game, play the reserves for this and hope by the 26th in a, no doubt frozen Moscow, we can recover the mess.

Yes for me

I do feel another 2 fullbacks rather than an unknown Shrewsbury winger would help the situation mind, and with 24 hours to go who knows. Someone of real quality alongside Barry would really make all 3 viable, won't happen though, not the way O'Neill thinks.

Its obvious with 12 or so PL games to come from March onwards that results in Feb will not mean the end, Arsenal have 2 maybe 3 sticky fixtures from then on too, their final game is a beut and with us at home to a relegated Newcastle, who knows, but Feb is a decider month, its full of games that will go a long way to decide Villa's FA and UEFA Cup challenge and make a big impact on our PL standing for the final run in.

Me I'm confident many will be pleasantly surprised.

Agree the Chelsea game could be totally pivotal for our season.
The Fear
There are so many ifs, buts and maybes and whatever you're having yourself BUT if the new few weeks prove to be as productive as the period since Christmas, then we could end February with both Chelsea and Arsenal behind us and with Liverpool in our sights!

So important, if we got a win in that game it would work wonders for us I'm sure. I hope we can get a win in the first leg of the UEFA, if we do we have a real chance and I'd love to play Spurs in the cup, beating them would make me a very happy man.

I'm bit confused how you think we don't have someone of real quality alongside Barry. Stan Petrov has been one of best players so far this season, and has become a vital part of our team.
