O'Neill Trying But Not Confident Of More Signings

Looks like, despite wanting to and being willing to try, Martin O'Neill isn't expecting much joy in the run up to the transfer window closing at 5pm Monday 2 Feb.

He admitted on the official site it is going to be 'exceptionally difficult now.' Adding, 'I have enquired about one or two things, possibly more in hope than expectation, but I think it is going to be hard. I am going to keep working up until 5pm on Monday because I would like to do something.'

Lets face it, no one would really want to be selling to us right now, not whilst we are riding high and 12 unbeaten!

The only extra rumour from the Sunday transfer talk article earlier (Click Here) is on Vital Pompey (Click Here) where it seems talk of a move for Marlon Harewood is growing amongst the Portsmouth fans and it seems the link is going down like the Titanic! Know the feeling, I remember being gutted when we got him, nice guy and always willing but simply not good enough for the Premiership!

Oh and the Sunday Mercury claim we might be about to sign 21-year-old Shrewsbury winger Chris Humphrey for around 50 000. They quote 'a source' saying: 'Villa have scouted Humphrey in his last three games. He’s a Martin O’Neill player – English, young and very quick.'

Money talks may I suggest we have more games than ever coming in the next two months if the FA Cup and UEFA provide good runs. I know we have Carew back, Wilf to come.... but..

Like col8 says money talks it does not matter if they do not want to sell but soon as the smell of the money on offer takes affect and the road to villa park is seen by any player and the prospect of working with MON and his team take affect a move is on. Richards has to be signed a great young prospect.

Love to see a few players for the big push ahead, we are less than half-way through the season 15 league and however many cup games to go..

Yeah Scharner did the double block from the free kick in the box but I think I was thinking off Figueroa who also gave his all and prevented a number of goal bound efforts. Having said that I'm not suggesting we just buy half of the Wigan squad!!
