'If It's Football, It's Vital'

We Dug Deep For Sunderland Points

Brad Friedel was delighted to see the team dig deep and come from behind to take all 3 points against Sunderland last weekend.

Speaking on the official site today Friedel stated that coming from behind, despite Ashley's sending off shows the fantastic team spirit that our club now has.

'It was a result that required us to dig deep, particularly when we went a man down.

'It was a battle from the first whistle and I don't think we started all that brightly so we had to dig ourselves out of the hole of going a goal down.

'But what a good team spirit we showed again!

'We came back and not only managed to draw but we picked up all three points, which was fantastic.

'We are showing a lot of character in a lot of games.

'We had a good second half. We actually didn't really get started until half-way into the first half.

'Although we were a goal down, we did have some confidence coming out after the break because we had finished the first period well.

'But when we had the sending off, it was real backs to the wall stuff but we did ever so well.

'All the lads were terrific. We rolled up our sleeves and did great.'

We all know we are a team that generally only plays for one half a match, but when we do have our half Friedel is spot on with his comemnts aboout our team spirit and dare I say now our desire to win each and every match, regardless of how we are playing or what the score might be.

It was a vital save by Brad in the first half at 1 - 0 down. I think he has really proved his worth. Another shrewd buy by St Martin

Jussi had a cracker of a game for Bolton as well....there's a lot to be said for buying an experienced keeper as opposed to always looking out for the up & coming youngster....
