Fresh Injury Woe For Martin Laursen

Oh no, a fresh injury blow for Villa defender Martin Laursen.

It seems the Danish international defender rather rushed his comeback and has aggravated his knee problem.

Martin O'Neill says he isn't sure when he'll be back but admits he'll have to look to bring in some more cover.

He told the Express & Star:

'He has had a meniscus problem. Maybe in hindsight we brought him back (too soon) but he felt fine. He wanted to play but he felt a reaction to that last week and he didn't play at Sunderland. When will he return? I don't know. We will just have to see when it settles down again.'

On transfers he says he is looking to add faces admitting 'I don't think we could keep going in the fashion that we have been doing.'

I have a feeling that Laursen's days are numbered. The only good thing about his injury (ok, i am clutching at straws) is that Barry is Captain again as he should be anyway, i hope he keeps it, even if Laursen returns.

Well said young_jonah, I think Barry has been immense this season and deserves the arm band again. Gutted about Laurson though, not sure Davis and Cuallar are the answer yet as they both lack premiership experience. Go get Micah Richards Martin!

Richard Dunne is available apparently!!!

I was very shocked and a little concerned when I saw he was back for the baggies game...goes to show I was right in those concerns! Very frustrating as there was no real need for him to play, as Zat and Curtis had been playing very well together. lets hope his knee settles down as quickly as before but he isn't rushed back for the sake of it!! I can't see MON signing another centre back though, unless he offers Zat in exchange?
In MON we trust!
Only joking, hope Laursen is back ASAP, never seen a defender win so many headers in half a season. Zat had looked in good form before he was dropped. Think MON will play him and Curtis at the back because Nige may be needed in the middle due to Ash's abscence.

Blehhh. I don't trust Cuellar in the middle. He is ***** in the air. If Collins, a LB from Sunderland, can out muscle him and score a goal from a header, imagine what a real striker could do.
los_angeles_villan
i have not been impressed with cuellar yet at all. and Davies seems to really struggle when he plays next to him, maybe there is a language barrier thatthey are struggleing to overcome, because hes not bad with Zat. hopefully Cuellar just needs a few games in the middle. he came with a bit of a reputation even if it was only the SFL.
liamo1981
my fault he's in my fantast team - just like those ther injury worries - Fabregas, Torres and earlier this season, Ronaldo!
merlin
I had my doubts about Cuellar from the start, but no-one listens to me............. To be fair he needs an extended run in the side before we can really judge him.
