Shaun Maloney Going Nowhere

Reports in the Scottish press this weekend said that Aston Villa's January purchase Shaun Maloney was home sick and wanted to return to Celtic.

The same reports were circulated when Stiliyan Petrov moved to Villa and didn't appear to make the impact expected for a £8.5million fee. Must admit, I can't wait to see how he performs this season, I'm sure he'll be far more settled, fit and up for the job.

His agent John Halliwell has been quick to dismiss these reports saying the attacking midfielder and sometimes striker is going nowhere.

Halliwell said in the Scottish Sun:

'All this talk about Shaun being unhappy is news to me but there's nothing in it. The last conversation I had with Celtic was in January. There is always talk about Shaun because he is a talented player but this is just completely made up.'

Adding: 'It's a big season for him and he's just excited to now get his first full season in the Premiership underway.'

Having read the Vital Celtic site, it certainly seems Maloney - who some think cut and run after being developed and well supported by the Scottish giants - would be far from welcome anyway.

As posted on Vital Celtic. I had the privaledge to talk to Maloney, Berger and Mellberg at a certain location last week and they were all buzzing about the new training ground and hopes for next season. all made up crap, just like almost everything we have been reading for weeks now. Bring on Aug 31st so we can get back to normal.

Well it was always going to be a load of rubbish, wasn't it?
The Usual Suspect
He's looked very exciting since he signed, even if he did want to return to Celtic U dont think they'd be able to afford Villa's asking price.

How much of a bargain does Shaun look now!

I hope he gets a run in the side next year. I liked the look of what we did see of him last season

I've got a feeling Shaun Maloney will start the new season in the starting XI and will play a big part next season. Not sure who will be sacrificed, maybe Gabby moved back onto the wing to enable Maloney to form a partnership with Carew?
DeanoVilla
I think Maloney prefers it on the left as a winger come striker. He is a massive talent and will serve Villa well, as I said a group of us were talking to them and they seemed very positive and happy signing a few beermats and bits of paper. I for one am going to ignore all news feeds now until MON speaks. too much crap being penned about this and that.
astonmilan
if he stays at villa he certainly will be going nowhere..........

I think Dales_Dad should change his name to Charly Chester.

Is Dales dad as camp as his son ? well Mr Winton ?
astonmilan
Marlon Harewood in, and Shaun Maloney out on the same day, would have just been that little bit too much to take. No chance of you going anywhere is there Dales_Dad? Why does our site attract you so much, you being a non-Villan and all that?
