NRC Signs on the Dotted

Aston Villa at last completed the signing of West Ham midfielder Nigel Reo-Coker.

The England Under-21 international has at last made his move to Villa Park after agreeing personal terms and passing the mandatory medical.

Nigel's future has been the subject of speculation for some time after he handed in a transfer request at the end of last season where the West Hams fans blamed him for their poor season.

Villa boss Martin O'Neill sees him as a key addition to his squad and it`s the first player to be signed before the start of the new season.

Reo-Coker, will add to Villa's midfield options following the recent departure of Gavin McCann.

NRC said "I love the game but I don't build myself up to be something I'm not."

A fee of around 8.4 million pounds secures the services of NRC for Aston Villa.

Yep he will be running around in a Villa Shirt from now on, I honestly hope he enjoys his Holls and comes back Hungry to show the West Ham Booboys what they are missing.

I think we could have a real gem here.He has loads of energy, leads by example and is a natural leader, talking all the time and getting the team going. We talk of Barton and his energy, or Gerrard's never say die attitude.Possibly we could have such a player now in NRC.MON has his vision for the team and I hope this is the start of great things in the transfer market. If we can replace the 4-5 players that have left with players of a greater quality we will be a real force next season.UTV

who's your captain this season? if the armband is up for grabs then reo coker is yer man. he was a great captain at west ham until it all went pear shaped and the fans foolishly turned on him.

I like the way he presented and handled himself at the press conference. Seems a very confident and assured young man, and I'm sure he'll have a lot to say both on the pitch and in the dressing room. A quality signing, brought in at a very fair price. As for the captaincy Dales_Dad, I wouldn't/shouldn't think that the armband is up for grabs. That honour belongs to Gareth, and long may that scenario continue.

Dales_Dad, Gareth Barry is our captain and leads by example.Consistently an 8 week in week out, true class player. However I can certainly see NRC's qualities as a captain.Especially during the U21 championship, getting the lads in a huddle at the start of games, etc..You can never have too many leaders in a football club and I would expect he motivates all around him with words and actions. You don't become the youngest captain in the history of Wimbledon & West Ham without having Captain qualities. It seems that the Villa have just upgraded their engine room from a 2litre to a V8!

one little point about the press conference here.why did villa not have a press co-ordinator there telling the reporters enough is enough asking Reo about west ham this and west ham that, therefore not having one present it seemed it left Reo to have to answer all the bollox questions without really wanting to.then i pick up the papers this morning and instead of reading about villa going for europe and us going on a spending spree(all positive) all i see is 'Reo takes a parting shot at west ham'.this could have been helped by someone or anyone sitting there beside martin and reo telling the press what needs 2 be answered and what does not.*****ed off with that as it smacked of quite amateurish stuff 2 me.UTV

I'm most impressed, you can tell West Ham are gutted he's going. A driving force in midfield our new Ian Taylor (hopefully).
