Finally eh?!? Reports are that the price tag is 8million or 8.5million. Still pending a medical & personal terms too. But, it's about time. Not sure if I agree with him being worth twice as much as Steve D though. Oh well, that's one down, now SWP, Jussi & Defoe are next on the list according to a number of national rags.
Canuck_Villan
Depends what price and player you benchmark this against. I wanted him, so I'm very happy.

Glad to see the deals finally done. There's been a lot of talk on here about Steven Davis and as much as I liked the little fella he was useless when he did play last season. And lets not forget if reports are to be believed he's the one who's thrown his toys out the pram and said guarantee me a starting spot or I'm off. We don't need the kind of player. I don't think you can say who's wroth what nowadays, if you want someone you pay the going rate
darkade
Lets play hardball with Fulham like WHU have with us demand £7.5m for Davis (a Full international) and settle for £6m not the £4m reported.... Oh and sell on clauses etc surely.

A player is worth what you can get for him, simple as that. To us Reo-Coker is worth £8.5 million as he is the type of player we need. Davis is worth less as we need his type of player less. If we can find another club that needs his attributes we will be able to get a higher price, if not we should get what we can as he clearly won't be playig more than a cameo role for us in the future.
Villain Of The North
Hate to say it but i will, only half-way there with the fee being agreed so let`s not count chickens.
ASPINALL
with the way fees are going in a few years time 8.5m will look like nothing and its the going rate today (which I blame west ham for as they started the big money for average players trend). Its a good start now keep em coming randy.

Refreshing to see and hear of a player who really wants to come to the Villa, so much so that no-one came near really. I think it was protracted because Wham wanted to mess him about because of the aggro he gave them.
Gazvilla
If he signs (and I think he will) he can say goodbye to his England career. England u21 captains haven't fared so well playing for the Villa.

Hoo-bloody-ray!! Hopefully tomorrows negotiations go according to plan, the medical a mere formality, and Nige puts pen to paper and becomes a Villan. I'm delighted that he's coming onboard, and think we've brought a quality player at a very fair price.

Well ten Million for Young eight and half for NRC am I dreaming or is this really Villa.... More to come next week? I dont want all my presents in one foul swoop.
col8
Right. Now let's go get Shinsuke!
evoflash
evo my man - we just got rid of that hoop trash - lets not open the door once again!

I've just read that apparrently Reo Coker is top mates with Bling Defoe, so maybe he can tap up the little fella for us akin to the Boateng/Dublin effort a few years back....that was a classic!
YatesyVillain
Lets be glad that Doug is no longer involved in transfer negotiations. He'd head into the meeting with NRC tomorrow, determined to get the guy to agree to a pay-cut if we're relegated come seasons end, just as he supposedly did with James Beattie.
glensider
Is that right about Deadly and Beattie? What a tremendous show of ambition.
Adam Deuce
if he signs, great signing reo will be,just the type of player we have needed for years.strong, never stops running, good football brain, can tackle and can pass.good start to get the signings rolling HOPEFULLY! SWP next please as malouda is close to joining chelski and as Ian Wright as good as said the other day on talksport that is the end of SWP for them and by the sounds of his dad he would be really interested in joining us into the bargain.UTV

No doubt that Reo Coker will be a great signing but i am worried about right back's mostly our lack of one. I will not jump for joy untill MON signs one.
