No Villa Deal For Reo-Coker Yet

No Villa Deal For Reo-Coker Yet

Tony Finnegan, the agent of West Ham United`s Nigel Reo-Coker has denied that his client has already had a medical with Aston Villa, and that no formal deal has been agreed as of yet.

Rumours built up over the weekend that Reo-Coker, who is all but certain to leave The Hammers this summer had been at Villa`s brand new Bodymoor Heath Training Ground over the weekend, and that the player would be unveiled at some point this week. It now appears however this isn`t the case and the two clubs are still trying to trash out a fee for the midfield man.

Speaking to BBC London radio, Finnegan said: 'Where we are at now is that we are waiting for the two clubs to agree a price.

There has been no medical. The lad has been waiting to go on holiday.'

He added: 'We thought there may have been a deal last week. Everybody knows Villa are interested in the lad. We're just waiting to get the agreement between the two clubs."

Villa are believed to have offered around the £7million mark, with Alan Curbishley seemingly reluctant to let the player leave for anything less than £10million.

Much much more worried about the Harewood story which is also not going away. ( Maybe Curbs is insisting that we can't have Reo unless we take him aswell!!)

Could be the agent is talking because the deal is stalling and he wont make any money. Surely the price wont be an Issue for Villa, Young bought for around a 10 million pound fee I cant see 11 million for the Under 21 Captain.

I am a bit annoyed by this - if we go to £8m that suggests he is worth twice as much as Steve Davis. Thats not on - in fact it suggests he is worth Hughes, Davis, McCann, Ridgewell and £500k. That is not good business. Why oh why didnt we just throw £20m+ at Ajax for Sneijder and Babel and then let Martin sweet talk them. I was SO positive until today and I agree with Christo - pre-season is tomorrow. Even if we sign 8 top class players (and Im sure we will get some) - they SHOULD all be in during pre-season to get settled in. We need to hit the ground running this year and could do with the players now.
