Djemba Burnley Move Unlikely

Steve Cotterill is unlikely to be able to re-sign the famous Roy Keane replacement Eric Djemba-Djemba, who had joined the Clarets on loan in January. Djemba, dubbed "Manchester United misfit" by skysports.com had impressed for Burnley and had admitted he wouldn`t mind going back to Turf Moor.

Cotterill told the Burnley Express: "It probably suited us, Eric and Aston Villa to do a subsidiary wage packet last season, the same as with a few loan deals we have done, and we put them in the shop window."

He then went on to add: "We would have wanted to have him in with the rest of the lads for pre-season if we were going to have him on a longer-term loan, but I don't see that one happening at the moment."

Despite being back at Villa Park (well one would assume he`s probably on holiday), Eric is not likely to appear in an Aston Villa shirt again, with a further payment to Manchester United being due soon. It should also be noted that Benfica have been linked with a move for the Cameroon midfielder, for an astounding £700,000. Boy, we've really seen them coming!

Heard last week that he had been released from his contract?
Dannygav
Yes, read the same Dannygav and mentioned it on vital villa. the article I read said he was touting himself around Europe as Villa had agreed to release him. Think it was in the mail.
The Fear
Bye bye Eric you truly have been rubbish.
mackaavfc
Please to read he was released. Delighted if we get 700k.
Dannygav
Worse Villa player ever?
Dannygav
If they won`t pay the money, then tell em to bugger off-i mean jesus he`s been there long enough and played well for them, they sound like the Blues with their obsession with loans.
ASPINALL
Cant see Eric settling for Championship football somehow, even if Burnley were capable of raising the cash to compete for his signature. Eric rates himself too highly for that. Benfica would be a tremendous move for him, although upon what basis they are keen to sign him, I cant quite comprehend.

I don`t know whether he is totally cack as he`s never really played,he was desperate at home to Everton the one year ( along with everyone else ) and he came on against Man.City later on that season and totally dictate 2nd half, whenever i seen him last season he looked well worth 700k of anyones money so let`s not get rodgered once again ( McCann/Angel/Balaban/Savo etc ) of players that we give away.
ASPINALL
He was originally signed by Alex F for Man.Utd following a performance at RB for Cameroon which was by all accounts phenomenal so as we don`t have one at the minute let`s try him there in pre-season ? If we sign a RB then see ya later.
ASPINALL
Reading between the lines though Aspinall, it would appear that our Eric has something of an attitude problem, and that, quite rightly, has not gone down too well with MON and his staff. He's had plenty of opportunities to impress, particularly last mid-season when we were crying out for bodies, yet Djemba-Djemba just couldn't rise to the challenge.
glensider
He may have to play RB now ?
ASPINALL
700,000 is not bad for two players Benfica will get Djemba and Djemba thrown in as a make weight. DJx2 Certainly looks the part, you could play one in the first half and one in the second.
