Carew - Villa Can Qualify For Europe

Carew - Villa Can Qualify For Europe

John Carew says the players can't wait for the start of the new season having witnessed a packed Villa Park and the very special atmosphere at our last game of the season.

With the Villa faithful filling Villa Park and the thousands of scarves - given out for free by Randy and the boys - being waved in a swathe of claret and blue, the team got an idea of what a full, optimistic and happy Villa Park can be like. Certainly brought back the memories of some great European nights in the days of Big Fat Ron and he who walks on water Brian Little.

The Hulk told the official site:

'The European celebrations for the team of 82 certainly rubbed off on the team and they played out of this world - they were terrific. We believe this performance was a glimpse into the future and what we are aspiring to do.'

And on the forthcoming season, 'Confidence is high and, while the end of the season just came at the wrong time for us, we can look on and build on this next season. The very trophy the 1982 players were parading was so close to me that night I could have touched it - it was right in front of me but I never got to hold it.'

Ha, not boasting, but I got to touch it thanks to Sir Dennis Of Mortimer. Actually, that is boasting, but what the heck, it was one of the best moments of my life!

Big John also says that he wants to win a similar trophy one day and he isn't talking years away as he says 'this group of players could qualify for Europe - could be top five and I tell the players that is what we want to be aiming for.' And all this before we make any new signings!

As things stand at the moment - he's dreaming - but with the addition of 6 quality players and some dependable squad members then skys' the limit. However, everyone who follows a team says the same thing.

Boast away Villa acheived something the mighty Arsenal and Chelski can still only dream about. Hopefully if things go to plan then in 5 years the club will once again be challenging for the greatest prize in Club Football.

I like Big John, and expect a very good season from him. He's also got the right attitude, a good plus to have, and I believe he'll set the premiership alight this campaign. He will be a major player for us.

You're becoming very tiresome LARSSON*7*CFC. Immaturity is no excuse for being so unfunny.
