Oldham In For Loan Of Berger?Update

Oldham have failed to lure Berger (see below)with their official site saying:

"Obviously this turn of events is a disappointment and it didn't work out this time, but we'll be pursuing other avenues."

Strange game this football business isn't it?

Patrik Berger is being linked to loan move to Oldham Athletic.

Why? I can't see that being allowed after he'd had his contract at Villa extended?

The Oldham official site has confirmed the report though:

'Managing director Simon Corney has confirmed that Latics are hopeful of making a loan swoop for Aston Villa's Patrik Berger. In a move that would certainly be viewed as a massive coup, Boundary Park officials have contacted their Villa Park counterparts about a temporary deal for the 33-year-old.'

Nowt so strange as folk.

What the heck? This has to be sheer madness. berger added the style and class we have lacked all season. Why would we extend then pack him off somewhere else!!!

Doesn't make the slightest bit of sense that PB would sign a contract extension, giving up the opportunity to move to MLS or wherever, only to move out of VP on loan to Oldham Athletic. The Latics must have their heads in the clouds. Admittedly although Berger will in all probability only be a bit part player next season, he could still have a very important role to play. He looked extremely impressive during the latter third of the last campaign, proving that he still has qualities to offer at the premiership level. Take a hike Oldham.

Maybe season ticket sales at Oldham were slow and the club was giving the fans something to talk about, a lot of clubs with little or no prospects have done this over the years to generate Interest in their clubs........ WE SHOULD KNOW THIS MORE THAN ANYONE.

It seems like Oldham are doing what the Dildo Salesmen from Somali Heath have done for years, namely anouncing players they would like to sign but in all reality there is more chance of finding rocking horse shoite. Anyone remember Maradonna, Ian Wright, Jean Pierre Papin, to name but a few. Remember the last goal of the season and you will understand that Berger will have a role to play at VP next season.

I think there has just been a misunderstanding of stories here. Villa are looking at changing the catering and Oldham were obviously chomping at the bit to sign our burger salesman (or women).
