Ashley Young Gets More Praise

Former Villa winger wizard Tony Morley has pinpointed Ashley Young to make a major impact at Villa next season.

He said on the official site:

'I like him. He's got pace, lots of skill and he likes to get at defenders. That makes him an exciting player to watch. No defender likes coming up against players who attack with pace and from what I've seen of Ashley Young, he can be very direct. It was a big move for him in January and it might have taken him a while to settle down, but he did well towards the end of the season.'

He highlighted the young players game against Sheffield United and said Ashley is 'one to watch' for the 2007/8 season.

Ray Wilkins was also recently full of praise for the player who has been representing England in the U21's European Championship.

And in a lovely finish, Tony Morley added: 'There's a lot of reasons to be optimistic at Villa and Ashley Young is one of them.'

Happy days, now lets have some more players!!!

Young and Gardner will be a force next season, in different roles. I believe that between the two of them they will get about 20 goals. If we have strikers bagging as well, we will be a force next season.

VOTH - those are very high targets to set young players - especially when neither are going to be playing as strikers. Would you expect Petrov to score 10 goals next season as well? A more realistic and satisfactory contribution would be 20 goals and assists between the two (AY/CG). Anyhow, listening to Talk$h!t again this morning, Parry and Brazil ha someone on the phone from the Dutch U21 camp. When asked who they fear in the England side, he said our Ashley. His words were (more or less): "(The Dutch U21 coach) has been having nightmares about Young all week. He doesn't know if any of his players can stop him...." A great performance from Young and Cahill (if he plays), and Reo-Coker (if he comes) tonight would show the Dutch that we have some of the most promising youngsters in the English game, and as an affect could help lure the likes of Sneijder, Babel, Drenthe, De Jong this summer! Good luck Ashley!

I think he's going to be box office!!

Good points bazzah. With regards to Youngs and Gardners contibution, it isn't a target. It is a belief that these two are gems and will really come of age next season. You are right that if they contribute in 20 goals or assists they will have had a very succesful season, but I just have a sneaky suspicion that we may be about to witness something special. For Young think of Morley, and in Gardner I really believe we have a new David Platt. If we have a striker (and that may be Gabi) who already puts the fear of God into the opposition, then I think these two will benefit from less attention and could well contribute 10 goals each.

i love your optimism. im not so sure gardner will start next season- MON wants another midfielder, probably reo-coker. he won't drop petrov unless he has to so who else you gonna drop from the midfield? barry - no chance!, young - get lost! gardner may be our 12th man next season.

ild be happy if Gabby gets 10 goals as i feel he wont play as much next year with a new striker coming in Young and Petrov and Gardener to get about 20-30 goals and assists between them anyway if the likes of Sneijder Babel De Jong Drenthe and even NRC take notice they will surely sign for us Bazzah and VOTH have made valid points and the future of vill looks great:)

The key signing will be a top quality striker, someone who will score the goals to enable the likes of Ashley Young, Shaun Maloney, and Craig Gardner to really flourish in their respective roles. Ashley looked a tremendous signing by MON towards the end of the last campaign, well worth the cash that we put out for him. He has it in him to become an outstanding talent, and no doubt several clubs who questioned our decision to fork out so much money for him, will wish that they had had the confidence and belief that MON displayed when making his move. We have a genuine talent on our hands, someone who will create havoc upon premiership defences next season. Get your season tickets now gents. The Ashley Young show is about to hit town.

Im glas ashley joined us instead of joining west ham who are trying to buy every one and sell there average players for 2 times the price there worth e.g Harewood blues bid 3mill they said no and they want 3.75mill and same with Reo-Coker i think he is not much better than S.Davis and for 10mill no way 5-7mill is more like the price to pay for him but its probly 10mill because he is English and we all know English players are over rated and over priced Anyway ashley young is worth every penny and Thankfully he will be playing for the best Claret and Blue in the prem next year instead of the bench or west ham reserves because they are blind to see quality. I can see this bring the Spammers to the site lol

Ashley should be playing for the seniors already, no question. Also never seen Reo coker play so well, may be a good buy after all.

He is top quality, can`t wait to watch him next season, looking at tonights game Carson,Drenthe,Babel,NRC and Ash could all feasibly be at Villa next season which makes me quite horny ( don`t tell the Wife-she may want some action )
ASPINALL
Ashley has played really well in both the games I saw (Italy & Holland). He looked quality towards the end of last season and I'm VERY Excited about him next season. Babel looked interesting too.

If anyone can teach young Ashley about the art of wing wizardry, its our very own assistant manager Robbo. What a quality wide man he was during his time at Forest.
