Villa Kick Off v Liverpool

The 2007/2008 fixtures have this morning been released and Villa are at home for their first game and face Liverpool. The season kicks off on Saturday 11th August.

You can view our full fixture list at: Sky Fixtures - Click Here We unfortunately can't show them on this site without paying a hefty license fee, something I must admit I will never understand as these are the fixtures (adverts in my opinion) to the games that we all pay our hard earnt money to go and watch. Hey ho.

Our home game against Manchester Unitedtakes place on October 20th and then we face Small Heath in the first of the two local derbies away on November 10th and home on April 19th. Villa will play the newly promoted Derby at home in November and away in April.

Boxing day see's us away at Stamford Bridge and News Year Day at home v Spurs.

Once again our last game of the season is away (Hammers). Our last home game of the season is against Wigan.

All games will obviously be subject to change for telivision.

Bring it on!!!
Lets hope you can start the season with a win over the Cesspool Pikeys it's about time you beat them!!!!!!!!!!!
I like the split of games this year, not so tough over Xmas and not a bad run in either.
The Fear
Some tough opening fixtures.
Oh dear!!
Might feel happier if I knew who would be lining up for us! Agree that the fixture list looks a lot friendlier than last year, though it seems we may start off low-ish in the table and rise towards the end of the season.
I wonder if they'll have Tevez and Eto by then? & we'll have Bellamy.
Apparently, Liverpool dont have as much money as they thought they did !!!!
best start possible. get a tough game out the way, at home when villa park will be going nuts
Suprise suprise at Man Ures opener..
Why a tough start? All games are tough in the Prem but after Liverpool we play the team that finished 1 place above us then we have 2 games against teams that finished below us. The lack of belief in the fans yet again amazes me. No wonder we can’t sell out games because the fans think we won’t win that one, can only draw that one, that’s a loss…

Create the same atmosphere that we had at the final home game of the season - hopefully the Trinity, Witton & North will join in with the Holte. We've got to lift the players and be more vocal and drown out those scousers!... You lost it 3 times, you lost it 3 tiiiiiiimes, in Ancient Greece you lost it 3 times! But primarily, sing about our own lads - a rocking VP makes a massive difference! UTV!
Also, it seems routine for Liverpool to start their league campagins slowly - WE CAN WIN THIS ONE! Any of you stato's know what our opening day results tend to be when we are at home? (I'd do a bit of internet research but my boss has turned round and said "Are you on the bleedin Villa site again!!?"....)
Sheff United last game of the 07-08 season! ;-)
bazzah I agree on that one regarding Sheffield Utd. Also agree with redscouse being slow starters although they did beat us 1 - 0 in the equivalent opening fixture 5 years ago.
Deano this means that you should have a hangover for when the game kicks off at midday on the 20th.
Deano my brithday too - unfortunately it'll be on the Sunday 20th
Thats true - but the other way of looking at it is that it will be on when I am still up and looking to go to bed ;-) Looking forward to it already UTV
Sunday April 20th 2008. The day villa send B *****ty down again?
I am sure that Liverpool have a CL Qualifier the same week, so may be distracted. Also, teams can start slowly, and it may be a good opportunity to get a result at last. If it is moved to the Sunday it will be my birthday, so it would be a nice present!!!!!!!!
In all honesty there are no easy games in the Premiership but I feel Villa will be strong enough to bounce back from a defeat and not go spiraling for months on end.
If Liverpool have a CL qualifier previously this means that they will be already match fit and raring to go. I think it means we should take the Inter game seriously to ensure we are at the races from the first whistle.
Liverpool are going to have to be on the money straight away. After opening away to Villa, they have the 2nd leg of their CL qualifier (mid-week), then their second league game of the season Chelsea (H)!
ive been talking to my mates who are blues fans and there sayin they will draw vs chelsea and beat th villa on both occations and i said whats there aim for the seaon and he said to beat the villa twice... sadd lol enyway villa should get of to a cracker perhaps an easy 10points out of 12???
What better game to set your standard for the new season!
Well, we certainly have to be firing on all cylinders from day one. A tricky opening few games, but games we need to negotiate with a healthy points haul to set the trend for the campaign.
The more I look at the fixtures, the more it hits me that we've been handed a tricky opening month or so.
