Ding Dong Linked To Villa

Ding Dong Linked To Villa

Slow news day today but some reports are suggesting that Martin O'Neill is interested in Hamburg midfielder Nigel de Jong.

Ding Dong, a 22-year-old Dutch international, is apparently due to be offloaded this summer as the German club look to re-build.

Hamburg sporting director Dietmar Beiersdorfer has all but dismissed the link though saying:

'We have heard rumours of interest from Villa but at the moment there is no news.'

As we've reported several times, Ding Dong's international team mate Wesley Sneijder is also thought (by who we don't know, probably the press!) to be a target for Villa, as well as Spurs and I'm sure others. With us not having European football to offer, we might well struggle there.

Of the 100 supposed targets this one has appeared on the Sky Sports message bar on TV. Suppose this gives it some credence. MON will not want a depleted side like last Christmas and with players leaving he'll want to sign others. It's gonna get busy at some stage, just hope it's not when I'm on me hols and I miss it all!

Dont know much about the guy, but a young, versatile international player for a couple of million quid sounds like a good bit of business to me.

Sporting Life have him as a midfielder. Personally I know nothing other than the name. In MON we trust.

He started off as right back i think but moved to preferred midfield holding role. Can play various positions if i remember rightly. Not sure about how good he is.

Nigel de Jong I suspect the Youtubers will be working overtime getting us links to his best bits. Personally I honestly think MON prefers english speaking players.

yeah defensive midfielder. a player who only 2 years ago was being labelled one of the best young players in the world. had a bad time at hamburg but if we signed him it could be a stroke of genius in my opinion.
