The Latest Villa Transfer Gossip!

The Latest Villa Transfer Gossip!

Ooooh, go on, get him! Who? Alan Smith.

Reports today say that the Manchester United striker hasn't been offered a new contract and that has alerted a host of clubs including Aston Villa, Tottenham Hotspur, Everton and obviously Middlesbrough who seem to be linked to every player on earth!

Mind you, don't get too excited, because Smith wants to see out his final two years of his contract and fight for his place at Old Trafford.

His agent, Alex Black, said in The Sun:

'Alan remains contracted to United for the next two years so, unless the club decides to sell him, he intends to stay.'

Another player linked again, due to his deal to Valencia collapsing is Ajax's Wesley Sneijder. According to the Birmingham Mail, never the most reliable source I admit, the 22-year-old is a target for O'Neill although it looks like it would take in excess of £8million to prize him away from the Dutch club. Sneijder said: 'The only way to break with Ajax is by kicking up a fuss. But that's not my style. This is the moment for a transfer. I have been playing in the first team at Ajax for five years. And surely Ajax don't want to let me walk out for free in two years' time?'

Celtic midfielder Shunsuke Nakamura is also said to be a target as, if you believe paper links, Martin O'Neill looks to take every Celtic player possible! Reports suggest the Japan midfielder is seen as a great player to bring in to allow Villa to break into the Far East market, although that shouldn't be used to disguise the fact he is a good player obviously!

Smith has never done anything i dont know why he was in the england game against brazil and all that nakamura can do is score a free kick, well we got maloney who can do that plus he is 29 we could get someone younger.

i cant fault smiths desire and commitment towards united. i just think we could do a little better maybe, as for naka, he is 29 and i wouldnt want us to spend silly money on someone who you are gonna get 3 seasons out of. I would rather young plays more.

I'm still hoping that Sneidjer comes through--I know it's a long shot, but that would be fantastic.

Plenty of gossip, very little action. Sneidjer will never happen, we aren't at that level yet.
