Inter Milan not coming to Villa - but Internazionale are!
This may be considered fussy, but put the boot on the other foot. My son lives in Italy with a flat full of the supporters of Milan's two teams and they are all continually incensed with the British press referring to a non-existent team called Inter Milan.
The 2 teams are Milan and Internationale (all Italian teams are also AC in front in the same way we have FC after). To call Internationale Inter Milan is effectively giving them the extra name of their dreaded rivals - even if it is the city they come from, and is on a par with calling us Aston Villa Birmingham City. Milan are Milan and Internationale are Internationale and they should not be run together.
There are other examples of course of calling teams by a British version of their name such as Bayern Munich instead of Bayern Munchen, but Inter Milan is not a British translation - it is just wrong. If you look in any paper or football programme in Italy then Internationale can be abbreviated to 'Inter' but never never never add Milan.
