Laursen - Stay Fit & Stay At Villa!

According to the Birmingham Mail, Martin O'Neill wants Villa defender Martin Laursen to extend his stay at Villa Park having recovered from his career threatening knee injury.

The Danish international has just one year left on his contract and Villa want the former AC Milan player to sign on longer as long as he can stay fit.

O'Neill said:

'Martin Laursen has played fantastically well and I've already spoken to him. Like anything else, it's about staying clear of injury and getting a run of games. We will monitor it closely when he comes back for pre-season because of the injury he's had.'

Adding: 'But he's really impressed me and I'm aware of the situation.'

When fit, there are few better. AC Milan do NOT buy bad defenders. If we can get 30 league games out of Laursen next season that would be massive.

Managed to get full stats - played 28 games and lost 6 for Villa,he also came off in a few of the losses ( no surprise! ) Just shows the impact he has made though when fit.

On his day he's top drawer, one of the best central defenders operating in the premiership. Keeping him fit and available is obviously the key.
