Latest Aston Villa Transfer Gossip

Not exactly a bumper few days for rumours but lets look at what we have been linked to.

Warning, these links are not good for your health, we'll not end up with any of these players and we really should be outside getting some fresh air... end of warning!

According to a gossip site Martin O'Neill has his eyes on Bayern Munich defender Philippe Lahm.

Reports are linking Villa defender Liam Ridgewell with an exit, again. This time, after rumours he might be moving to Small Heath died down, he is apparently a target for newly promoted Derby County, a club also linked with former Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie who is a free agent this summer. One sum mentioned for the England Under 21 defender was around 2million. Hope this isn't true, I think we should be building not selling, although I guess if we did bring in another quality defender, places would start to get a bit tight and the Villa youth academy graduate will probably be more interested in regular first team football at this stage of his career rather than bolstering our numbers.

Apparently Villa and Everton are battling it out for Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Michael Kightly. The reports don't mention what form of battle will take place but my bet is on jousting. The fee is expected to be in the region of 3million for the 21 year old superkid. In an interview revealing how desperate he is to leave the Wolves he said: 'There has been some speculation about me and other clubs, but I have always said if I was offered a new, longer contract at Wolves I would be more than happy to sign it,' Hmmm, can sure see where the link came from!

The Mail On Sunday say Villa are 'chasing' Charlton Athletic defender Luke Young. I'd settle for the more orthodox route and ring his agent, that said, I'm lazy. Apparently Villa are keen on bringing the England international defender to Villa Park (not sure where else we'd be keen to take him to be honest). West Ham are also being linked.

Baggies player link 352. The rumour that Villa want WBA winger Jason Koumas has re-surfaced. According to reports today Villa, Reading, Blackburn Rovers and Everton (thought they were broke?) all want the playmaker after West Broms failure to win promotion to the Premiership. Koumas, not being too clever here in all honesty, has said Everton would be his preferred option. Nice one, so if they don't buy you fans of the club you do end up at will now know you weren't keen on joining their club! The Welshman said baaaaa. No, stop it, that is racial stereotyping. He actually said: 'Any player will say they should be in the Premiership, and I am no different. I feel I can play in the Premier League, no problem. I hope I am in the Premiership next season, but if it doesn't happen I will just keep playing to the best of my ability with West Brom.'

Nothing concrete seems to be happening which is slightly worrying,2 of the players i thought we`d sign ( Distin and Barton ) have gone elsewhere so i`m peeved.

There will be a major signing in the next ten days, maybe two and they are not anyone linked to us in the press such as Bellamy this space

Bellamy is going to Celtic, he wants cups, titles and CL footeball. Refreshing change if you ask me. He's made it clear he doesn't want to join us. I'm not upset, he's injury prone and we shouldn't be paying premium price for top 4 cast offs.

Unfortunately we've got be patient. I'm sure Martin has some surprises up his sleeve. I'd be interested in some more off the wall names, players who maybe feel they have been at a club too long.

It really annoys me to hear people saying things like "We've missed out on Barton" or "We've missed out on Distin". Maybe MON didnt even want these players? In which case we've missed out on nothing. MON knows exactly who he wants and he'll do his best to get them. Please just ignore the paper talk.

I would much rather some deals in the same vain as Alpays(Although the geeza was a pr!ck), just wake up in the morning and signed sealed and delivered. No speculation,no fighting with other clubs, twists and turns taking two weeks...he's coming, no he's not! Just DONE! I would much rather that then getting teased for two or three weeks on a certain player, causing more trouble and maybe being a factor in losing other targets. As the old saying says...NO News is GOOD news!..

I trust MON so much with the club and think he knows what he is doing. With Olejnik going he MUST have a GK lined-up, Bardsley sent back without a fight - we MUST have a RB lined-up, no go move for Distin in the end etc. etc. We will have a wave of players coming in MON isnt going to wait and wait, remember how busy the scouts have been all year. The players will come in. Think of it this way - he has been saying all year how he would like to rest players, players playing too many games etc. etc. And despite that he will not stand in the way of Hendrie, Djemba, Davis, Olejnik and whoever else leaving so he MUST know what he is doing. I really think that patience is needed - however a big name shortly would silence the restless fans and also show every other player that this may be the place to be. I would much rather have it this way than West Ham and Newcastle rumors at this rate they will have spent 200m and have squads of 40+ players. Its all bullsh...t at this point!!

You are right Deano, West Ham and Newcastle are also trying to drum up enthusiasm for season ticket sales. The latter did it with the overpriced purchase of Owen (Liverpool wanted to pay 1/2 what the Toon offered). I heard today that West ham offered Everton 12m for AJ & 90k per week!

West Ham seem to have serious money and are throwing another million pound per year at Barton to nick him from Newcastle? They must sell some biscuits!!! How is no news good news ?? Maybe we`ll buy 3 in 3 days or something that`s how the Villa seem to work but MON did say he wanted business done within the next few weeks 3 weeks ago so he`s prepared better than he was last season.
