'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Hendrie's Chance To Stay In Prem?

Looks like soon to be former Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie might get his wish and stay in the Premiership (for one season anyway!) after Derby County showed an interest.

The 30-year-old midfielder, who is a free agent this summer, said:

'My dad has always played a big role with my contracts and it will be the same again. He spoke to Derby last Sunday and thinks there might be something there for me. Derby didn't want to make any decisions until after the play-off final. They have gone up to the Premiership so that would be a good option.'

'I would love to stay in the Premiership, although I am not saying I wouldn't drop down to the Championship if need be. It's vital I get this contract right. It's a big one for me and might be my last. I'd like a three-year deal. Nobody is paying for me. I am going from Villa on a free transfer and I will just be walking in somewhere.'

He has also been linked to a return to Stoke and also Coventry City, the Sheffield United links seem to have gone quiet though.

If he's one of their biggest signings...he won't be in the Premiership for long! Fancy getting your dad to sort things out for you!

""although I am not saying I wouldn't drop down to the Championship if need be"" No shyt Sherlock, look at the money and if the Championship is paying more go there we would all do the same in your dusty boots.

Lil' Lee a Ram. Has a nice ring to it, and no doubt a teeny bit of truth. Might do a job for them, might not. Would hardly think that their supporters are overly excited by his possible arrival.

Bet the Stokey's are gonna have the hump now! He can still do a good job for someone - Derby can have him

Bit of a harsh bit at the end there murph. I think you'll find a few players are using family / relatives now as their agents because of the fact that the agents grab themselves so much cash, and at times ruin a deal. At least with a family member, you're with someone you can trust. I personally still think he could have done a job for us, so good luck to him in his search for a new club.

I always thought he was a good player but Im sick of hearing about the dude. ***** him off already. sorry but thats how it is

Derby going straight back down, so id rather go to a championship club on the up than a team already going down:D next season

What sort of reception would he get at Villa Park when returning with another club?

He'll end up in The Championship, no higher. All this talk of premiership football is I think a little bit over the top.
