O'Neill Apologises For Gabby Mix-up

O'Neill Apologises For Gabby Mix-up

Come here, there's more......!

Martin O'Neill has now spoken about the Gabriel Agbonlahor situation and has apologised for what he calls a 'mix up'.

'I spoke to Stuart Pearce a couple of weeks ago to say to him that Gabby had had a long season without hardly a moments rest in the Premiership and that he may need a little while longer to recover from illness and niggling injury. We originally had four other players excluding Gabby in the party and all were allowed to join up for the Spanish get together. Liam Ridgewell withdrew for personal reasons and Luke Moore had to return because of injury while in Spain.'

Adding, on the official site: 'Gary Cahill and Ashley Young will be with the squad for the tournament. I felt Gabby would benefit from a slightly longer break before making himself available for selection for the tournament but perhaps I didn't communicate this correctly to Stuart. I'm genuinely sorry about any mix up as I know Gabby was very keen to be in the squad.'

Nice to see the club moving to clear this matter up quickly. Communication to fans, how very refreshing.

MON and the art of diplomacy....good then thats the player in the clear... good man management in my opinion whatever the misunderstanding was, the tournament mean bugger all anyway... get some rest son. More worried about Lukes injury and Ridge's personal probs to be honest I hadn't realised the Blues bid had upset him that much.(sorry that could be in bad taste)

Based on MON's statement Stuart Pearce should no be made to apologise for the public slating he has given Gabby on Sky Sports News.

Gabby's a Villan that's all I care. He can do no wrong. He had a tremendous season and no one can deny that an extended break and a relaxing summer will do him the world of good. It will be a personal disappointment to him admittedly, but Gabby will be fit and raring come August 11th, and that can only benefit MON's claret and blues.

I hate to say this, but under the current managers the whole England setup is a farce and I'm beginning to lose all interest. First we have the Barry debacle, now this. As far as I'm concerned as long as they turn up and put their heads on the line for my Villa, then as glensider said, they can do no wrong.

If Gabby did really want to go, and MON speaks speaks the truth, i hope he hasn't pi**ed gabby off. If not, good news for us, all it would have done was tire him out and put him in the shop window for other clubs.

liamo1981 has a valid point. Lets hope that Gabby, the villain of this story at first hearing, isn't big-time ticked off at the failure to communicate between MON and Stuey-boy. Still sounds all a little 'strange' to me, but, we have to believe what we're told I suppose.

I hear strains of "Stand by your man" playing from MON's Office CD Player. If its a genuine mistake then we will see if Stuart Pearce the self proclaimed hard man has the balls to include Gabby in the squad.
