Villa Star Out Of UEFA U21's

Villa Star Out Of UEFA U21's

Has anyone seen Gabriel Agbonlahor?

Apparently Stuart Pearce hasn't as he has named both Aston Villa youngsters Gary Cahill and Ashley Young England's UEFA European under-21 championship in Holland but has omitted Gabby.

According to Pearce the Villa striker has been ignored because he went AWOL and missed the training camp in Spain.

England will play the Czech Republic, Italy and Serbia in Group B of the tournament, starting June 10.

Former Villa player Peter Whittingham and last seasons loan player James Milner are also in the squad.

The full Under-21 squad:

Ben Alnwick (Tottenham), Scott Carson (Liverpool), Paul Hart (Man City); Leighton Baines (Wigan), Gary Cahill (Aston Villa), Ferdinand (West Ham), Hoyte (Arsenal), Onuoha (Man City), Liam Rosenior (Fulham), Steven Taylor (Newcastle), Whittingham (Cardiff); Bentley (Blackburn), Tom Huddlestone (Tottenham), James Milner (Newcastle), Mark Noble (West Ham), Nigel Reo-Coker (West Ham), Kieran Richardson (Man Utd), Wayne Routledge (Tottenham); Matt Derbyshire (Blackburn), Leroy Lita (Reading), David Nugent (Preston), James Vaughan (Everton), Ashley Young (Aston Villa).

No Luke M Either. I'd prefer him to Nugent/Vaughn every time.

If his head has 'gone', I'm confident MO'N will sort things out - but that's the worst case scenario! Gabby showed true professionalism throughout the whole of the season - so these claims come as a bit of a shock. Agree with Stig that this issue should be clarified by the club.

I do not think the club has to clarify anything. If anything McMuppet should be justifying why he (and Gareth) are not in the full squad. This is a decision for Pearce to make not the club. I for one would rather him not play and to have 6 weeks with his feet up in Marbella.

Panic panic Gabi has not been selected for the U 21's. Call in the press, we want official clarification from the club. Has he gone off the rails? Where is Gabi's head? Who do we think we are???? The club are not at our beck and call for every little thing that happens in the football world. Time for some people to get a life!

Playing for England is an opportunity that Gabby has expressed an interest in. He turned down the opportunity to represent Nigeria because he wanted to be a proud wearer of an England jersey. Bottom line is he's broken the rules, and blown an opportunity to represent his country at a high level. I hope that the reason for his disappearance is a valid one - if not he hasn't done himself any favours...

He needs a rest anyway. We want him fresh for next season.
