No Inter-two-bob, we play Inter
Aston Villa have announced who our first home pre-season friendly opponents in 12 years will be.
They are a smallish team, not sure you'll even have heard of them, they have virtual unknowns play for them, people like, Patrick Vieira, Zlatan Ibrahimovich, Olivier Dacourt, Adriano, Walter Samuel and Hernan Crespo.
Yup, Italian giants Inter Milan are coming to Villa Park on Saturday August 4 (ko 3pm).
Martin O'Neill said: 'We're playing Inter Milan on August 4. They're down here to play in a tournament featuring Manchester United, so it should be a good game for both sides. It will provide us with a significant test at a vital time in our preparations. As they have won Serie A by 22 points they are clearly no pushovers as their history suggests and hopefully our supporters will enjoy it.'
Adding: 'Hopefully everyone enjoys the occasion.'

If you are going to play a pre season friendly at home, then this is exactly the sort of opposition that is required. Season Ticket holders to get in for a fiver, non season ticket holders a tenner and kids a quid. Alternatively buy the new shirt and get a ticket for free. This should guarantee a full house and several hundred thousand ££££'s in the coffers. Once again well done to the board. When will they do something wrong? We haven't been able to have a good moan for ages :o)

I can't agree with you Stig, we never moan. But have you seen the glasses that M'ON wears, they really don't suit him? It is about time somebody told the General that if M'ON continues to wear that brand of spectacles then we shall start to boycott games :o)

Memories of Kent Nielsen and Platty, 2-0 up with Dr. Jo, Klinsman and 3-0 down, Ray Houghton and Phil King... those were the days. Lets hope Inter will be visiting VP in the not to distant future when we play them in the champions league!

Cant argue with the quality of the opposition for a pre-season tester. If you play the best, then you can hopefully only learn and improve. Bring 'em on.

OH YES! The idea about free tickets when you buy the new shirt is an excellent idea VOTH, unfortunately I dont think they're on sale until after this game.
