Jlloyd Trotts Off To Bolton

As expected, Jlloyd Samuel has departed Villa Park for the Reebok Stadium.

The 26-year-old left back has signed a four-year contract with Bolton Wanderers becoming Sammy Lee's first signing since taking over as boss.

He will join Little Sam on July 1st.

Samuel, who made 199 first team appearances for Villa said:

'I was at Villa for 10 years and when you have been at a place for so long you become part of the furniture. I felt like I needed a change and I'm sure that by coming up to Bolton I will get myself playing again. Bolton is the club to get my career back on track.'

Always thought he was a decent player myself, shows what I know! He went from an ever present in the team, and often linking up brilliantly with Gareth Barry on the left, to not even making the bench. I'd say injuries broke his progress and confidence and he never managed to get a real look in under O'Neill.

I know one former player said off the record once that Jlloyd had great potential if only he would get his head from out of the clouds. Maybe that never happened.

Anyway, good luck Jlloyd.

I agree with Fears views on this. I actually think he is one of those players who will benefit from a move. I wish him luck and would warmly welcome him back at VP when he plays against us. He is not one of those who deserve to be abused by the moronic minority. He has provided several years good service, most of which was under very poor management. He was never a world beater but he is good capture for a club like Bolton.

Totally agree with VOTH. Sorry to see him go and agree he has suffered through the cr*p management we have had over the years. makes you wonder how much other talent has been lost in the same way. Scott Murray comes to mind.

This is the worst day of my life.

"Jlloyd had great potential if only he would get his head from out of the clouds." Whilst i haven't the same high opinion of JLS as the postings above , i would never verbally abuse JLS as he at least tried is best . IMO he went downhill from the moment he got into the England set up and returned playing in white boots. He belived he was a better player than he actually was and often got caught out . Anyway, good luck J Lloyd. Thanks for your efforts at Villa.

Scott Murray !! Of Bristol City fame ?...yep,we know J.L will have a blinder whenever he plays us but come on,he`s cr@p and his only decent games were a long.long time ago,my bet is he has a decent 1st season and they pump up his contract with an extra year and then he`ll kick back and smoke the cigar.

He'll do o.k. He has the talent and the ability, get his confidence back and Bolton will have got themselves a decent player. Good luck to him.

Im not sad to see him go but the change of scenery could be just what he needs. He just annoyed me, he thinks he's some sort of gangster killa?
son_of_cher
He passed his trial with flying colours, got the ball right over the half way line from his own 6 yard line. Just what Bolton need. DOL for their next manager anyone?
