Aston Villa Scout Excited

Aston Villa Scout Excited

Ian Storey-Moore, Villa's chief scout, has wetted the appetite of us Villa fans by saying there is an exciting summer of action ahead.

Lets face it, as he has helped scout for the possible targets, he must know what we are in for!

He told avfc.com:

'We are working hard behind the scenes, both Martin and I, to bring in some fresh faces. I've been to numerous games abroad, and we've had other scouts all over the place as well. We have worked extremely hard throughout the season. I can't think of how many games I have been to. I have put my heart and soul into it, and I just hope we can fulfil our targets.'

'This is a great club with a great manager, so you always want to put everything into it. If things for some reason don't work out then it won't be for the lack of effort. I've done a lot of miles on the road this season but hopefully it will pay dividends and we can reap the rewards with the players we want in.'

Adding: 'It's fair to say that we know who we want. Patience can be a key word. It is general knowledge that it is not always easy to get the players you want for various reasons.'

He also says it is far more difficult these days, whereas before you used to talk to the player, you now have to go through agents and that isn't always as simple as it might seem as it is often a job to find out who represents who!

And he finishes by saying:

'But am I excited? Yes, if we get the players we are after.'

Good news, hopefully. Don't think the window is officially open until Friday is it, so plenty of time!?

In other news, reports today are suggesting that Jlloyd Samuel is on the verge of a move to Bolton Wanderers. If true, good luck Mr S.

How are players like Hargreaves being signed when, the window hasn't opened yet?

The window for the Villa opened after the Bolton game was completed. The window for Man Utd and Chelsea opened after the FA Cup Final was completed and the window for Liverpool opened after they lost last night. I.E. the window opens when you have played your last game of the season. It closes for everyone on August 31st.

I'm pretty sure - as per Lee Hendrie quotes in another article - that it opens tomorrow officially. Suppose deals are being done now and then the paperwork etc is sorted once open?

June 1st - August 31st. Manure have not officially announced the signing of Hargreaves. They like many others are doing the deals now, however nothing can be officially announced for player purchases. Deals for Bosmans and other out of contract players are dependent on individual contracts and can theoretically be done at any time.

We need a big signing and we need him as early as possible. We need to show Europe that we mean business once the window opens, we need to make early noises! This will work in our favour for sure, and potential signings may be attracted further! A busy summer of transfer activity and speculation should satisfy our football fix! UTV!

The signings will arrive, we all know that, so a little bit of patience is required on our (the supporters) behalf. At least we know that for the first time in many summers we are out there beating the bushes, with a genuine opportunity of competing both with, and for, the very best available.

I think we all might be in for a few surprises. No wonder we didnt go for Distin/Muntari when we have much bigger fish to fry now, let pompey have them! Imagine if we signed some real quality players that we could only ever normally dream of.

Agree with your sentiments son_of_cher. In previous seasons we'd have swooped by now to pick up the likes of Sibierski and/or David Unsworth, both currently available as out of contract players. The skies the limit this time around, lets not blow the opportunity.

MON is a legend and goes about the transfers in the right way, i just wish he'd give us the smallest indication of who on the wish list!!!...........I reckon between him and the board their charming the pants off some quality players.........The chief exec said it himself that they're after world class players. Randy's proved already he's no liar, he wouldnt let fitzgerald say that unless he was going to back it up. WATCH THIS SPACE, IT WILL HAPPEN SOON

Sidwell and Distin have already chosen other teams over us so i think we may have to be a tad realistic when thinking of players who may come, from the list i`ve heard of you wouldn`t class any of them as "world class" but the team will have potential to improve.
