Fantastic. U gotta love the guy!

It was a mistake to let Hitz leave on a free - the lad had/has so much potential! Maybe a cheeky bid to re-sign him in the summer?! Congrats to Der Hammer - he left Villa to play European football - he'll play Champions League next season - and walks away with a league title winners medal... Great to see him doing well!

There are players who leave the Villa with the best wishes of everybody.......... Der Hammer was one of these, joining the likes of Ian Taylor, Paul McGrath, Alan Wright, Peter Crouch etc It is brilliant to see him doing so well. Hopefully he will be back at VP playing against us in the Champions League in the near future.

Well said voiceoftheholte. Hitz's success is well deserved, and it couldn't have happened to a nicer guy. Why we as a club seemed so unperturbed at him just walking out the exit door, instead of us making more of a determined effort to keep him, is something I'll never fully understand. Yes he wanted more playing time, understandably, but in most fans eyes he was well worth that request anyhow. Overlloked all too regularly in preference of inferior and less talented players.

Good point Glen. Yet another reason to hate Lee Hendrie!
DeanoVilla
Another example of the blinding business acumen shown by the previous owner and self acclaimed businessman. Let’s hope the new owners can learn from this and keep and nurture our young talent.

What a left foot that guy's got! Sorely missed!

Well done Thomas. Glad to see he's still SHOOOOOOOOTing.
Adam Deuce
good goal for a great player we shouldnt have let him go!
calum72
Sadly I saw more of him warming up at half time hoping to get on than playing. Even doing that he looked better than most. Was it another O'Leary mistake?
Villan444
heh that commentary is hilarious lol

Bloody hell, thought the keeper was Bosnich at first look! My eye sights obviously not that good. Then realised he wasn't a fat tub of lard in a yellow shirt! Yeah agree with everyone in their congrats for der hammer, sorely missed lad! Always a joy on the pitch and a nice lad to boot!

Man, i miss that dude, what a left foot! Thats the type of player we need right now, and he was definitely a favorite. Good on him
AussieVilla
The sad thing about it all, was that it came across in his t.v. and press interviews that he really didn't want to leave Villa Park. While he admitted that one day he did hope and intend to return to the Bundesliga, for the time being he was more than happy and willing to sign a new deal to remain at Villa Park. What on earth was O'Leary thinking?
glensider
While i also did not want him to leave (largely as we got no money for him), if we take the rose tinted specs off for a sec, you must admit he was only average while at the Villa.
mackaavfc
I agree macka but he had the potential to improve. How much do we miss someone who can hit a ball like he could from 30 yards? So whilst he was average he was on an upwards spiral and Stuttgart have benfitted from this.
