Which Player Would You Want Back

Which Player Would You Want Back

Vital Villa asked which player 'in their prime' would you most like back.

What I should have asked really was which player in their prime, God apart, would you like back, as you put our lord Paul McGrath in any poll and he'll win!

Anyway, the results were:

Paul McGrath (43%)
Dwight Yorke (10%)
Andy Townsend (9%)
David Platt (8%)
Gordan Cowans (7%)
Paul Merson (6%)
Andy Gray (5%)
Ian Taylor (2%)
Brian Little (2%)
Dennis Mortimer (2%)
Tony Morley (2%)
Mark Bosnich (2%)
Alan McInally (1%)
Bruce Rioch (1%)

My vote went to Dwight Yorke. I cried when we sold him AND supported Man Utd (only in the Champions League) that following season. I was glad he won The CL. He left us because he wanted to win things. He won the greatest prize of all. He'd never have done it at The Villa. Love Lord McGrath too. Obviously.

I voted for Platt. Platt was without doubt a far superior midfielder to anything that pulls on an England shirt now. Proud to say i had the privledge of watching him in a Villa shirt.

Well I'm part of the 1% crowd. Bruce Rioch for me. Sheer quality, and what a left foot. Was broken-hearted when he upped and headed on to pastures new. Probably the first real quality player I saw play in a Villa shirt since I first ventured into VP back in the early 60's.

What about this for a shout - Kevin Phillips - could you imagine him in his peak at Villa banging in around 30 goals a season!!! Just what we would have needed!!
