End of season - Best MON Purchase

End of season - Best MON Purchase

End of season awards - Best purchase of season the season.

According to our end of season awards, the best purchase by Martin O'Neill was John Carew, another player who has won by a landslide (see most improved player and young player of the season awards also!)

John Carew, who we swapped Milan Baros for, got 71% of the votes.

That left Ashley Young (From Watford) on 12%, Shaun Maloney (from Celtic) 10%, Stiliyan Petrov (from Celtic) 6% and Phil Bardsley (on loan from Manchester United) 1%.

Carew, who joined us in the January transfer window from Lyon, has scored 3 Premiership goals in 11 starts.

Ashley Young is going to be a super star, best 9 mil the club ever spent.

Whoever voted for Bardsley is a perfect example of why 'Care in the Community' should be banned. Lock them up, they are obviously a couple of acorns short of a squirrels breakfast.

Maloney is the best signing by far, an absolute bargain too. Maloney will be Villa's Joe Cole, the way he runs is exactly the same.

Got to be John Carew. The type of front man we've been lacking for way too long. Will probably never be a prolific marksman, but should certainly be a very important member of the team for a few seasons to come. Very good signing.

Totally agree glensider and also the fact that we got rid of that lazy, useless prima donna Baros into the bargain makes it all the more pleasing.

Suprised Carew got such a landslide vote. Ashley Young for me, the kid is going to be a legend!

Surely it can only have been Bardsley's agent who voted for him?!?!?

My vote went to Maloney. The question was which purchase. Therefore in my eyes Carew didn't count as he was a swap (although i admit he's a great signing. I believe Young will prove to be an excellent purchase but he was expensive. Maloney cost a mere £1 million pounds. Bargain. Without doubt the best purchase by MON to date.

1million for our very own Joe Cole both in style and stature.
